Insert text media

Paul-Fierlinger wrote on 4/15/2020, 2:31 PM

Bug or ignorance? Whenever I need to insert a text media along the Vegas timeline, tapping "Enter" creates a media insert on every existing layer. How should I do this to get just one entry on the layer and place of my choosing? It's getting tiresome to have to then clean up all the redundant inserts.

@Paul-Fierlinger - I require more understanding. You know the crack Paul: Screengrabs

Grazie, whenever and wherever I need to create a text media, I place the cursor directly over the spot where I want the text media to appear, usually the layer above the image layer, click in the menu, but instead of just one insert I get a text media event on all my timeline layers up and down.

Screengrabs? I can grab a text event from where? I use the drop down menu and select "Insert Text Media from there.

Do you happen to have the whole track list selected? (see @j-v's video)

Paul-Fierlinger wrote on 4/15/2020, 3:25 PM

Thank you guys, I think I understand how it's done now. So you first create the media in the media list and then you grab it from there and drag it to where you want to use it. I've been always saving them as templets but this way they are properly saved in a file. Is that it?

j-v wrote on 4/15/2020, 3:29 PM

No, as @vkmast wrote you have not to select all the trackheaders, but non and than do what you did.

I'm not getting it. So no, I don't use the track headers. I have a single track above the video event track dedicated only for inserting text media wherever I happen to need one. The way I've been doing it is to first click into that track and then select Insert text media and expect to see one media event in the place where I have clicked. Now I am confused as to where I should click first.

Wait till tomorrow and than look and read again the answers.
Do you know what a "Trackheader" is?

For me it does exactly what you say.
But that's what I did for the first time now.
I usually open the Media Generators window, select "FXTitel & Text" and drag and drop the text event to the desired location.

Thanks, Walter. I completely forgot about the Media Generators window. I used that a long time ago but once I discovered there's an Insert Text Media in the drop down menu I was lead off the Media Generators window and pursued in vain the drop down menu. I'm set now. Thanks all for your patience.
