Installing VEGAS Pro 17 On a second Laptop

Ciaran-McClure wrote on 3/9/2021, 5:26 PM

I cannot find instructions to do this anywhere and would appreciate some help.

I am able to log into my Magix account and found a section called 'create activation code' however when i run through the required fields I end up with a message that reads:

Error activating

No activation could be created; please try again later.

Thanks in advance

So did you try again later?

I have tried several times over the course of today and still get the same message.

There is no "Sony" Vegas 17. Vegas has been owned by Magix for a few years now.

Why do you need a new activation code? The code you used to install on your first laptop should work on your second one. You are allowed two activations at any one time unless you are using Vegas Pro 365 which only allows one.

I don't think you don't need an activation code.

Go to the Magix service center and see what computers are registered for your Vegas Pro installation. You can delete one "deactivate" there, or from within Vegas.

Thank you everyone. Vegas 17 is currently installed on 1 device according to my account.
Can someone confirm please where to find my activation code then? Is this the same as my serial number?

Just type the same serial number into the laptop after you install Vegas on it.

But make sure you use the same email address. Your Vegas 17 is registered to that address and under that registration can be activated to two machines.

And maybe - for the sake of completeness - delete the word "SONY" from the title of the thread so that it doesn't lead to misunderstandings again and again.

I have now edited the title to show the correct branding of the software. As others already pointed out, "Sony Vegas vs. VEGAS".

The relevant FAQ regarding simultaneous use and activations is here, section 9. Quote: "9. How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. There are 2 ways to deactivate a device so you can activate a different one:"

Visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

From the VEGAS Pro Help menu choose Deactivate the Software on this PC. This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."
