Lost Audio Vegas Movie Studio 17.0 Build 204

Videome wrote on 11/13/2020, 8:05 AM

Started a project using Movie Studio 17.0 Build 179 it accepted any mpg video files without issues. October release of Build 204 drops the audio track of mpg file. I tried the same mpg file in Vegas 16.0 build 175 no issues. See comparitive properties from each movie studio version using the same video clip.

System Info Dell XPS 8930 desktop, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060

Has build 204 introduced a new fault? Any Help appreciated.

Not with me, exactly the same as in VMS16 Pl, look in 17 b 204

Maybe updating your used audio device or changing the audio to mpg in stead of AC3?

But why is j-v's experience different??

I don't see AC-3 in @j-v's screenshot.

@vkmast Well spotted, he's using mpeg audio so his post is irrelevant.

Thank you vkmast, A fiddle to fix, but it works using Handbrake. Although I am not a frequent user of Handbrake, I think I used the correct settings to retain as much video and audio quality as I can.

EricLNZ wrote on 11/14/2020, 5:01 AM

@Videome Depending upon how many files are involved you could use the video from your original mpg file and just use the audio from the Handbrake file. You could initially show the video as well so as to check they match up. Then delete or mute the HBr video. That way you don't lose any video quality.

Good idea EricLNZ, saving video quality as that format is not the best and every little counts. Thank you.

As I am new to adding posts on this forum, is your action sufficient, or do I need to action something?
