Missing last note of Audio CD?

PeterWright wrote on 2/25/2019, 6:57 PM

This has been happening in Vegas for a long time - surely not just to me!
I have wasted so many CDs, burned from the Timeline in Vegas, because the FINAL track finished a second or two before the end of the audio.
I have got round this by moving the last red flag 2 or 3 seconds beyond the end of the audio event, but yesterday I did this and the music still finished early, even though the transport line in Media Player was still moving.
It happened first in V13, so I opened the same audio in V16, and the same thing happened! I eventually used V15 and moved the final flag FIVE seconds beyond the audio event and finally got to hear the final note.
The first time this happened, a client rang to say the end of the music was missing - I always check that the audio starts ok, but now I always check that it also finishes ok.
Has anyone else had this infuriating experience?
Peter

I'm going to go far out on a limb and ask if you started your CD project at 44 kHz? I've had issues when burning from the timeline with a project started at 48 KHz because the project was originally from video.

Disclaimer:

I still use CD Architect for CDs.

Good question John - most projects I do are video, so Properties may well have been at 48 Khz - I'm just off out, but later I'll try changing this, put the flag back to its original position and see the result ....

Hi again John - thanks for the idea, - I changed properties to 44, but it made no difference - two more wasted CDs! - this is with V16 Pro. Your post reminded me that I have owned CD Architect for around 15 years, but gave up on it as it kept rejecting my serial number(s). I shall contact Support about this, but still wish I could solve the Vegas issue.

HELP!! I've just wasted half an hour trying to find support - been sent round in many circles, various FAQs, no mention of CD Architect and still no actual way to write to them.
If someone could supply a link to actually WRITE to Support, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks vkmast - the links are for Vegas and I shall direct my CD problem there, but I also want to get CD Architect going again, so hopefully they will forward to whoever can help.

I have been using Vegas since the audio only versions, but I am sorry to say, (not) I have never used it to author and burn audio CDs. I'm with John, I always use CD Architect..and I do not ever recall a problem.. (aside from pilot error). The only thing it lacks is VST plug-in support, but I consider that a non-issue since mastering is done prior to importing to CD-A.

Here's what I would (did) do when I had difficulty burning a CD from the Vegas timeline.

1) Do a sample rate conversion from 48kHz to 44kHz by rendering a 44 kHz WAV file from the video project.

2) Create a new project in Vegas at 44kHz.

3) I'm not sure about Quantitize to Frames but leave the switch off for this project.

4) Copy Edit Details / Markers (not Regions, not CD tracks) from the video project and paste them into the audio project as a guide.

5) Layout the tracks in the audio project, deleting markers as you go and burn.
