Movie Studio Platinum 13 updates

JaimeW wrote on 9/13/2016, 9:01 AM

I just got a new computer and cannot install the newest version of Movie studio platinum 13.  I installed the current version (at the time of purchase-build 879) with the plan to update. When clicking on the update link in sony website it takes me to the page with the option to buy. I cannot find where to update.

Is there a reason why I am unable to install the current version? It goes through the motions of installing, but when finished there is no evidence of installation. No icons and no .exe file in the programs files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am missing windows and a ton of options with the build I currently have. Thanks so much!

In another thread, vkmast posted this link to a mirror download list

http://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/

If you scroll a ways down, you will find the Movie Studio 13 latest Sony build for either 32 bit (build 954), or 64 bit (build 955).  You can download the latest Magix build 960 as a trial and install it over your currently installed build 879, but I wouldn't recommend it as all it does is rebrand from Sony to Magix and reportedly the extension which work in the previous Sony builds do not work in this latest Magix build.  The latest working build from Sony is 955 for 64 bit and that is the best you will do, in my opinion.

JaimeW, the link (2 of them in fact) to download MSP 13 build 955 can be found here

Might be useful to read the whole thread.

edit: +1 for George's additional comments.

From the link that I included in my previous post (provided by vkmast) I downloaded 'moviestudiope13.0.955_64bit.exe' which was exactly the version 13 Platinum build 955 I had installed last year.  I installed it, entered my serial number, registered it and everything installed fine.  The 32-bit version is just above it in the list.
