MPG Clips will only import video and not audio

@john_dennis Thats a fairly benign .ts file. By that I mean that the two audio codecs have similar data rates. When they are different, say for example, a 64kb and a 192kb, it’s important to know where the largest one is and select its stream to output to say .mp4. A long time back I had to make up a way to do that for converting my ts to mp4 files.

I find the old mpg files load the audio ok, maybe because it's not ac3 ...

Same issue here. I would like .vob ac3 support reinstated. No audio 😰

Ugh, you mean I just paid megatubs to "upgrade" from Vegas 12 only to have them take away the ability to import the VOB files I authored with Vegas years ago? Thanks for providing a temporary workaround, and shame on Magix.

And to add to your "Ugh", VP18 does not support the creation of Surround Sound AC-3 anymore, with AC-3 being the only lossy codec that Magix DVD Architect supports. So any time I need to create a Blu-ray disc with Surround Sound for DVD-A authoring I must do the project in VP-17. WTF Magix?

Wasted an hour puzzled why the old mpeg2/ac3 I imported into VP18 had no sound yet everywhere else I played it sounded ok. Funny how they never tell you what features are not included when you upgrade. Not pleased!
I used AviDemux to transcode to MP3.

So there was I thinking the issue was only with my MP4 media. I am now trying to work on a 4 hour edit which I have been working on for months. It keeps crashing in VP17 so I though I'll just open it in VP18 and carry on. How wrong could I be? Not only does VP18 not recognise and import the perfectly OK MP4 video files but the VOB files have no audio. This really is outrageous for such an expensive 'upgrade' - Magix PLEEEEASE reinstate all the codecs etc available in VP17 so I can get back to editing instead of faffing around with conversions. I am getting very frustrated with the program I have used since V 7!

As VEGASDerek commented earlier in this thread, "[they] are no longer able to use that decoder".
