You can stop it through your taskbar.
Maybe for projectrendering nowaday it is better to use one of the latest ( Magix) Vegas versions 16-18

It says "Render cancelled by user" and then nothing happens. It's still at this render popup.

Nevermind, seems like Sony Vegas autosaved the file and i was succesfully able to restore it. Thanks anyways!

This is the normal behavior of Vegas Pro - it is important that you do not switch off the PC in between, otherwise it will lose the automatically saved * .veg file.

It would also be good to back up again and again - if possible with different file names.

You don't have to rely on the automatic backup and you can always return to a previous project status without losing too much if your PC crashes
