... when downloaded DVD Architect 7 from 5

DVDA 5 would have to be over 10 years old and subsequent versions during Sony's ownership of the product were 5.2 and 6. The last and final version of DVDA was version 7 and was first released by MAGIX when MAGIX took ownership of the Sony Creative Software line of products. DVDA 7 is not an update to DVDA 5; rather, it was an upgrade which came as an inclusion when buying Vegas Pro 14 - 17 (but not the Edit version) - so DVDA 7 will have its own serial number (check My Products on your MAGIX MY Account for that serial number).

The question which arises is from where did you download DVDA 7? Did it come with a purchase of Vegas Pro 14 - 17 from MAGIX (so that purchase had to be before August last year when Vegas Pro 18 was released and DVDA 7 then became a discontinued product) or more recently from an authorised reseller like Humble Bumble, Amazon, etc.

DVDs won't play.

DVDA is not a DVD or BD player, it is a DVD/BD creator and burner.

Thank you for your response. Does this mean that I have to reinstall 5.2 then add 7 back or not use 7? I wasted a lot of DVDs on this. what is the best fix? Thanks in advance.

Dexcon wrote on 6/6/2021, 8:29 AM

It's unclear as yet as to whether or not you have a licence to use DVDA 7 by virtue of having purchased Vegas Pro 14 to 17 - that was the only way to get DVDA 7. If you do not have a licence to use DVDA 7, then you will need to continue with DVDA 5.2.

Again, where did you download DVDA 7 from? And also, when?

And I'm still confused as to what you mean by 'play DVDs' when DVDA is not a DVD player. Perhaps you could elaborate on this. Do you mean that when you load a recorded DVD into your computer's DVD drive, DVDA won't play it? Or that DVDs that you burn in DVDA 7 won't play in consumer DVD players like Sony, Panasonic, LG, etc?

Please describe in far, far more detail the process that you going through.

Because readers of your posts are probably still confused as to what your problem actually is. So lets start at the beginning.

You have purchased DVDA 7 and have a serial number for it.

Question - has DVDA7 installed okay and you are able to use it?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/23/2021, 4:10 PM

yes sir, but it doesn't play back

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/23/2021, 4:16 PM

Now when I reinstalled dvda 5, it says that its not installed. It tells me to go to the movie wizard and reopen it, except I can't find that anywhere.

vkmast wrote on 6/23/2021, 6:29 PM

I'm wondering how you "downloaded and purchase [VEGAS DVD Architect (7)] on April 20, 2021". As far as I know MAGIX did not sell the software that late (2021) any more.

Also can you show us a screenshot of the prompt to "go to the movie wizard"?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/23/2021, 6:53 PM

i can try

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/23/2021, 6:55 PM

when i bought vegas 17, it was with it.

vkmast wrote on 6/23/2021, 7:22 PM

Did you really purchase VEGAS DVD Architect in 2021 from MAGIX? Does it show in your MAGIX Account > My products?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/24/2021, 4:40 PM

It shows that I registered it On April 2021. So It's prob. in March when I bought It. Yes I saw this in my products.

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/24/2021, 5:02 PM

I've actually durned DVDs already, but when i had done a refresh on my laptop, I lost a lot of items including this. Now I can't get it back even though I went to my products to redownload.

vkmast wrote on 6/25/2021, 3:42 AM

I asked if you were able to purchase your DVD A from MAGIX in 2021.

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/25/2021, 4:34 PM

Yes sir I Purchased it from MAGIX. in April 2021. I have the serial number in my product list.

vkmast wrote on 6/25/2021, 5:01 PM

What does it say in your MAGIX Account > My products, VEGAS DVD Architect (7.0), if you click "Show more details" (under your serial number)? Are there any activations with this serial number in use?

(And please remember that the Make Movie wizard is still in VMS Platinum)

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/26/2021, 1:40 PM

It dosen't show any activations. It has unlimited use but no one in use.

vkmast wrote on 6/26/2021, 5:36 PM

Have you checked what happens if you click "Installation program" in VEGAS DVD Architect (7.0), Downloads?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/26/2021, 5:53 PM

Yes, It downloads It. when I go to make a DVD, It tells me that I'm on a different computer which I'm not

vkmast wrote on 6/26/2021, 5:58 PM

Have you opened/installed vegasdvdarchitect.exe that you downloaded?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/26/2021, 6:06 PM

you mean Architect 7?

Kenneth-Authement wrote on 6/26/2021, 6:08 PM

My whole problem is that I can't find the move maker wizard to reopen.
