Play Memories Home crashes

I have an HDR-XR500 camera [HDD media] and have recently "upgraded" from PMB to PMH. I had no problems with PMB but the new software continually crashes. It appears to be related to reading from the camera as I can work with other connected disks. Even before selecting a file to import the software is likely to crash whilst displaying thumbnails to the screen. Other times I can get 2 or three files selected but the transfer crashes midway. I have used the PMH Settings Initializer to remove all references to previous monitored folders and reset. This has not achieved anything. No, I don't want to update the camera!!

It's possible someone here is familiar with Play Memories, but you may get some information here:

I'm quite familiar with SONY's PlayMemories application; but, it has little if anything to do with this forum on SONY video editing software.

So, what's the prescription, Doc?

Shame you can't see it from my point of view DocSatori.

I can't download from my Sony camera due to problems with the Sony software that I need to use in order to edit my video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

What part of that doesn't rest with Sony, and what part of that process are users of Vegas Movie Studio not familiar with - enough to assist.

Finally, where else in the Australian Sony Forums would you recommend to be an appropriate place to post?

Thanks to a previous contributor for mentioning a Japanese site. I'll try there.........

So that's what I am, eh? A "previous contributor"?

Be that as it may, why not just copy the files using Windows Explorer? You shouldn't need software to do it.

The file structure is listed on page 124 of the Handbook.

Doesn't the cam's hared drive show up as a USB drive when connected to the PC with the USB cable?
