Try giving the rest of the information required to help you. Especially if you changed any default settings and what media you are using. If you have a GPU are you using Studio or Pro/Enterprise drivers?
A bit of research on the internet suggests that your CPU doesn't have an inbuilt GPU and I have the same CPU (but the KF version) and it doesn't have an inbuilt GPU. But I do have an NVIDIA GPU card.
My understanding is that Vegas Pro doesn't need GPU assistance in timeline playback ex-FX but many VFX added to the timeline do benefit from GPU assistance.
So possibly without an added on GPU (NVIDIA or AMD), your system doesn't actually meet minimum specs
@Luke-Power 's processor has an included GPU that can be a great help during editting unless there are no good drivers for that GPU installed, that can be checked on more places so @Luke-Power please give here - a screenshot of Options/Preferences/Video - a screenshot of Options/Preferences/File I/O - your driverversion at Control Panel / Device Manager / Display Adapters / Rightclick Intel UHD Graphics / Properties / Driver
For me the crash never happens when opening a tap or applying a vfx. The crash happens exclusively when video is playing. j-v here are the screenshots you asked for. Hopefully you can point out an obvious problem in there.
So you do have a GPU- one integrated on your processor. Current driver is 27.20.100.9168, so I suggest updating. You can go to help/ driver update within Vegas to find a new one.
File i/o settings are at defaults which is good. Video tab also looks like defaults.
