Try the tips from point 15
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/

If this is unsuccessful and you need further help, then use these guidelines (especially points B and C) to enable us to offer you help:
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/de/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

It would also make sense if you would enter your computer and software specifications in your personal profile under "Signature" - this saves the question and answer game for each new post.

Try giving the rest of the information required to help you. Especially if you changed any default settings and what media you are using. If you have a GPU are you using Studio or Pro/Enterprise drivers?

Luke-Power wrote on 2/16/2021, 7:29 PM

I have not changed any settings. What do you need to know about the media? I do not have a GPU.

Try B and Media Info for C:

My system meets the specs and is new

I do not have a GPU.

GPU capability is included in Vegas Pro 18 minimum specs and includes Intel:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/specifications/#productMenu

A bit of research on the internet suggests that your CPU doesn't have an inbuilt GPU and I have the same CPU (but the KF version) and it doesn't have an inbuilt GPU. But I do have an NVIDIA GPU card.

My understanding is that Vegas Pro doesn't need GPU assistance in timeline playback ex-FX but many VFX added to the timeline do benefit from GPU assistance.

So possibly without an added on GPU (NVIDIA or AMD), your system doesn't actually meet minimum specs

@Luke-Power 's processor has an included GPU that can be a great help during editting unless there are no good drivers for that GPU installed, that can be checked on more places
so @Luke-Power please give here
- a screenshot of Options/Preferences/Video
- a screenshot of Options/Preferences/File I/O
- your driverversion at

For me the crash never happens when opening a tap or applying a vfx. The crash happens exclusively when video is playing. j-v here are the screenshots you asked for. Hopefully you can point out an obvious problem in there.

RogerS wrote on 2/18/2021, 12:12 AM

So you do have a GPU- one integrated on your processor. Current driver is 27.20.100.9168, so I suggest updating. You can go to help/ driver update within Vegas to find a new one.

File i/o settings are at defaults which is good. Video tab also looks like defaults.

You still didn't provide Media Info as requested.

Luke-Power wrote on 2/21/2021, 11:53 AM

I updated the driver. Program is still crashing. Attached is the info on the three sources of media I have in my projects.

I am trying to follow those directions but I do not see a text option in the view window. I tried the view menu in both vegas and file explorer.

I've had a lot of issues with V18 crashing as well. V17 seems so much more stable.
