Hello folks,

I got a question regarding a purchase.

I am contemplating of buying "Sony Vegas Pro 13 Win DVD" but I am curious to know if you have to install it through the disc or if it is possible to buy the dvd version but instead download the program in case you do not have a dvd-reader ? I assume you receive a license with the purchase. Appreciate any guidance on this issue

Edit: sorry if I put this in the wrong section, admin may move it to the correct one.

Regards

/Ka

You should be able to do that, but at the moment it's a bit complicated as I  believe you're considering the Sony/SCS-branded version. You need to read MAGIX_Eric D's post here

The situation is difficult at the moment because Vegas is in the middle of a handover from Sony to MAGIX, and the activation is causing issues for some users. Where are you buying it from? I believe you cannot still buy a "Sony Vegas Pro 13 Win DVD" direct from Sony. If you buy it from a 3rd party retailer, I believe you would still be able to install it from a downloaded installer, and also install updates to it from either from Sony or MAGIX. If you buy it from a previous owner be aware there may be a limit to the number of machines you can install it on, and some or all of that limit may have already been used up. The policy from Sony on that was never clear, and I don't know what the MAGIX policy is yet.

Also be aware that Vegas Pro 14 is coming very soon.
