Sticky with current version (and history)

andyrpsmith wrote on 12/21/2016, 5:29 AM

Would it be possible to have a sticky with the current version listed and an update history.

Currently it is not clear what the current version is, when it is released and how to get it.

Yes, but for an update history you need to currently filter News Patches and that's not complete.

Cornico wrote on 12/21/2016, 6:15 AM

They are listed under "Posts", all on 1 page.
Nothing to search.

I must be missing something as there is only one post on page 1 and its from Nick with FAQ.

Cornico, can you point me to the changelog containing the originally released build 161 and the first update build 178? The previous updates 189 and 201 are there.

andyrpsmith wrote on 12/21/2016, 6:27 AM

Are, it's under news. But this is only 211. I'm asking for a list of updates with latest on top since release.

@andy, as said, News Patches gives you 201 and 189.

...how to get it.

This is described in item 3 of the pinned FAQ post, which links to this post. The "small installer" (described in sections 2a and 2b of that post) should always fetch the latest update and install it over your current build. I'm also adding direct links for the "large installers" to section 2c if I know their location.

The release notes situation is not ideal. I'm surprised it's not at least being done in the same way as it was with SCS, as the first VP14 build 161 release notes document is in the same old format and much of the Madison team is the same. Subsequent builds releases notes were never added to it. I've been tempted to cobble together an unofficial update history post in this forum.

At least, as far as I know, I don't think there is any reason for anyone to roll back from build 211 to an earlier VP14 build, but there's all sorts of reasons why it's useful to know what was introduced or fixed when.

Please do :)

That would be great, everything together in one place, at the top (in the video forum)

As Nick the Host says, the release notes document with a changelog was not a bad idea. Remember this?

As you have requested..., this is the compilation info I can gather so far:

Thanks set. Interesting to see the notes re esp. the initial release were so succinct.

edit: good to see you found Nick's list.
