Things that every VEGAS Movie Studio user should know

I've used Vegas Movie Studio Platinum for many years (now on V17.0) and over time I discovered things that MUST be done on each project to assure the results will be as expected.

  1. All video items on the timeline must be set to "Disable Resample" otherwise if there is a slight mismatch in framerate between video files and project the output will look completely messed-up in parts with lots of motion.
  2. A "VEGAS Levels" filter set to the "Computer RGB to Studio RGB" preset has to be applied to the Video Output FX just before rendering otherwise the rendered video will show much less contrast compared to the preview window.

Not being a pro user, it took me some time to discover these issues and I generated many videos that could have been improved if I had known these two things. I'd like to know if other elements are done by users to systematically improve video rendering?

Thanks.

1. It's what you prefer when there's a mismatch in framerate, a slight blurring but smooth motion in parts with motion or a sharp jumpy motion.

2. The preview window shows default full level (0-255).

Vegas Pro 18 add an option in project settings to disable resample defaultly;

Vegas Pro 18 also add an option in project settings to make previewed and rendered video have the same contrast.

Yes, but in Vegas Pro at the time that was only necessary for previewing the edit on the computer. It needed to be disabled when rendering otherwise the render would be 'affected'. As @lan-mLMC said, that was not longer necessary on Vegas Pro 18 - or 19 for that matter.

That is very good to know. Sounds like Vegas Pro is the product I should be using but unfortunately I find it a little expansive for the few videos I make every year, and mostly only family related.
