Trouble Transferring License To New Computer

BobbyP wrote on 2/7/2022, 10:12 AM

I have Studio 17 Platinum and would like to transfer it to my new computer I copied the original download from Magix from the old computer to the new one, but when I am asked for the product registration number I receive a message that the number is incorrect. I have gone over it several times, and the number I type in is identical to the serial number of the software on the old machine.

I installed the trial version to see if I could upgrade to the license I have already paid for, but I run into the same problem.

I hope someone can tell me that I am doing wrong ASAP, so I can get back to work.

Did you download from your MAGIX account > My products? See also the status of your activations there in Serial number > Show more details. Have you deactivated your old device? The following applies also to VMSP versions:

"You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time. To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month. In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

And, do you see any error code number in the message?

(You could also try and contact Online Live Chat, advice here, item 6.)

No. I transferred the original download to my new computer and installed it there. Although I used the same email and password to log into "my products," all that is shown is the trial version I activated this morning. The Studio 17 version I purchased in 2016 is not listed. There is no error code, just a message that the serial number is incorrect. It's not. It is the same as listed on the old machine.

If you can't reach Online Live Chat, try creating a support ticket (advice here). Please include your serial number.

@BobbyP

Hi,

The Studio 17 version I purchased in 2016 is not listed.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know, Movie Studio 17 was released in April of 2020, so unless you were able to do time travel...

If you purchased Movie Studio 17 more recently and used it, it would be registered in your account with Magix, unless you registered it under a different email address. Do you have another account under a different email address?
