Trying to Register Movie Studio Plat 12 and other Sony Vegas versions

@VEGASDerek thanks for clarifying 👍.

We have confirmed on the website that the computer ID field is not sending data properly. We are working on fixing that. Internally this registration method is working, so it is a problem on the website at the moment.

@VEGASDerek glad the team is looking into it, can we have an estimate on how long we can expect to wait until the authentication process is working again for older Sony Vegas versions?

Eureka! The Create Activation Code just worked for my Vegas Pro 13 and VP13 has now successfully activated and opened (ahh - the memories from long ago).

I can confirm Dexcon here. I was able to successfully create an activation code and finally register my copy of Movie Studio 12

Great work you guys! And thank you!

I mean I've already got a copy of Vegas Pro 22 because I couldn't get this to work, but thank you none the less xD

I can confirm that the procedure described in the Forum Messages and Support now worked for me as well. (The only snag for me that I could not enter the last two characters until I clicked to "highlight" af the end and got "active space".)

Excellent that users still needing their SCS versions can continue to activate again. Thank you @VEGASDerek and others for solving this!

No need to thank me for this. @m2016 was the one who made the change to get this working. Our users and the support team all appreciate the quick response.

A big hand then to admin @m2016. Not the first time he came to the rescue either!

Im not looking to register Vegas, I already have it registered and working fine. I need to register CD Architect 5.2 I can register it, but it only allows me to have a 30 day trial...but, every time i try to use it, it makes me register it again and it only give me a 30 day trial

EricLNZ wrote on 8/11/2025, 10:12 PM

@Steve-Pabst Please clarify. Is this after you've followed the procedure here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/activation-of-sony-creative-software-era-applications--149297/

and created a new activation code.

Jeff-Schmidt wrote on 8/12/2025, 1:15 PM

I am running into this registration problem? Is there a fix? Or will there be one soon. This sucks! I've been using mine since 2015 and now it's a problem.

I tried creating an activation code as suggested. We it asked for a computer Id, I found it as Device Is under settings/system/about. I entered it but it tells me this:

Invalid computer ID

I had my software on different laptop that I had to give back to work. But I installed/registered/used it on a different laptop. Was able to create a movie. Could it be that it is looking for the computer ID of the original laptop? HELP!!!!!!!!

@m2016 and @VEGASDerek,

I tried creating an activation code as suggested. When it asked for a computer Id, I found it as Device ID under settings/system/about (with format XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX). I entered it but it tells me this:

Invalid computer ID

I had my software on different laptop that I had to give back to work. But I installed/registered/used it on a different laptop. Was able to create a movie. Now it doesn't work. Could it be that it is looking for the computer ID of the original laptop (which I don't know)? HELP!!!!!!!!

Brian-Bullock wrote on 8/13/2025, 7:49 AM

The computer ID they are asking for is one generated from the installation app. I dont have the installer on hand on this PC currently so I cant recall how to get to the information but I think when it prompts you to do the registration thing it will give you the ID along with the rest of your registration information on a splash screen.

If its not displaying this information at any point I found that I had to click the "register from another computer" option, and when you get the html file to send you to the registration page (this is broken of course since the page no longer works) you can simply copy paste the url of the page it directs you to into notepad and within the html url parameters you can find your device ID there.

Of course if your not very tech savvy, all the stuff above might sound like some nerd-speak gibberish and my advise might not be all that helpful to you. Sending my apologies forward.

Unfortunately I'm starting to believe that Magix is slowly trying to phase out peoples software 1st was CD Architect 5.2 and now im having serious problems with registering Sony Vegas 13 Pro....These applications work perfectly fine the way they are , i do not need any updates or new bells and whistles ...just leave these versions alone and let me register them...its that simple....I dont want to keep paying for software that i already bough and paid for ....Im sure Acid Pro will be next o the list.

Steve-Pabst wrote on 8/13/2025, 3:22 PM

Its looking like its time to hit the dark web and find a hack or a crack to force registration :-)

I'm certainly not going down without a fight! If I have to pound a square peg into a round hole, then so be it., and if it doesn't fit the first time, ill just continue to increase the size of the hammer until it does.

EricLNZ wrote on 8/13/2025, 7:27 PM

@Jeff-Schmidt Try using the "Device Name" not the "Device ID".

EricLNZ wrote on 8/13/2025, 7:37 PM

@Steve-Pabst It might be best to clean out the hole before trying to fit a peg! This is just a suggestion but try going to your Magix account and deactivate any activations, then try again. Also note my comment to Jeff. With my activations it's the Device Name that appears in my Magix account activations, not the Device ID.

I also find with my Vegas products that the Help\About screen shows my Device Name as Machine ID.
