Vegas 13 - Loading peaks error

Kuj wrote on 4/4/2018, 3:00 PM

Recently my Sony Vegas stopped working when launching. When I try to open a project file or add media, it begins building the peaks for audio but freezes and sometimes crashes Sony Vegas.

I am on version 13. I have not changed anything since last time it worked, I have no drivers that have installed or drivers that need to be installed. Please help!

While waiting for better advice, try resetting.

It didnt work, and all my render settings are gone.. Can I get them back?

While waiting for better advice, try resetting.

Will this delete any render setting presets?

If you can see that your render settings are gone, does that mean you can launch it now? In any case, resetting Vegas does not delete your render templates but it does reset your custom menu bar.

No, when I open a project it wont load the project file, it just pauses on "loading peaks" and stops responding sometimes.

I'm still trying to find a fix for this, if anyone knows how to help other than changing "Compundplug", that would be VERY helpful!

This is a hard one since we don't know how your computer is set up. I can only offer some information. The Peak files are built in the same folder as the audio source, so you must first be sure it is a writable drive, that you have permission to write to it and that there is plenty of disk space for writing to it. If you are trying to load from a disk like a DVD or CD or Bluray, it won't work.

Did you add any drives when you noticed this problem?

Bro I am having problem with vegas not correctly using my GTX graphics card properly. One submitter suggested turning off intel graphhics. So I did that in bios. & now vegas crashes on startup. You think this reset will let me start vegas without intel graphics?

I am using the same Hard drive that I have been using, no changes. I have one free Tb of space left. I do not have a CD or DVD player.

I was going to ask you a question about your environment, but decided I'm not in the mood for 20 questions, today. Some good people here have already been through this enough times to document reasonable steps to take to solve these types of problems. Work on this. You can focus on # 8.

It has something to do with the compoundplug files, but I need them. Is there a way I can reconfigure them?

Also, I can open sony vegas as long as there is no audio file in the timeline.

I suspect this is because of the media you are using. To help you further, we really need more information, so please see this post: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/ The more info you can give, the better, but make sure you at least tell us what format your footage is and where it came from.

The file format is MP4, they are shadowplay recordings. It's not the file format because they were working in Sony vegas before.

I don't know if this is a known bug or not but I hope I can find a fix next month because there is a huge CSGO edit competition and I need to fix this right away!

Kuj wrote on 4/11/2018, 6:58 PM

I've come to the conclusion that the compoundplug is what doesn't like the video files, but have no way how to fix it. If I disable it, my audio is off-sync and miss-places it. (essentially the audio file is randomized and doesn't work in sony vegas) . I really need an easy solution to this. I've paid over $600 just for this software, please help!

Sounds like you might need to convert that existing footage to something else. Section 8 of this post lists some converters: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-why-won-t-vegas-open-my-file-correctly-codecs-converters-etc--104572/ It's worth a look through the whole of that post. For future screen recordings maybe you could try OBS Studio instead of Shadowplay.
