Does it matter if I have "Suite" or just use the Platinum update?

Thanks..

Platinum: Re: "render destination folder is now used for temporary file creation"

Can the temporary file location be overridden? (Possibly for performance sake.)

Is the temporary file location used for all temp files, or just for rendering?

Audio Preview Bus doesn't reset between clips. I have to manually right click to reset each time I click on a clip in the Media Pane. The Master Bus resets as expected when stopping and starting on the timeline.

This Preview Bus non resetting isn't behaviour I expect. Bug or by design?

Anyone else seeing that MS doesn't completely shut down with this version? I'm seeing phantom instances remain behind when I look in task manager, which I have to manually kill.

I discovered this when I tried to delete a project folder after shutting down MS. Windows refused to delete the folder because it saw that MS was still running with files open in the folder.

Upgraded Platinum 12 to Platinum 15. When rendering video seems to get to 41% then generates black till end then puts end clip in video?

Tried several different render options - using

Magix 1080 29.97fps nvidia GPU

Magix 1080 25fps nvidia GPU

Sony AVC/MVC 1920x1080.

Which GPU are you using and with exactly the driver version of it.

Hi all I'm having trouble connecting vegas to open CL - or the AMD GPU even tho it's supported. Just installed the new build 157. - HELP! thanks!!!

Bruce

Details below.

movie studio platinum 15, win 8.1, graphics chip = AMD 6410D. With the old windows video driver from 2009, open CL was found but did not speed up render times. So I cleaned out all video drivers, reboot into safe, and install new amd drivers with the AMD installation tool, I got the AMD control center working and 2016 driver installed but movie studio now can't identify any GPU or any open CL. Tried several online fixes including cleaning registry, etcetc. Manuf. Specs say the AMD 6000 series is supported, .....but I noticed the AMD control panel does not show all the options under GAMING that I've seen on some screenshots of other AMD chipsets.....AMDcatalyst installer says version 15.301 driver installed, but newer drivers available. Tried to install both newer drivers but get stuck in circular installation cycle and nothing changes... my system specs below.....

Now Movie Studio 15 Platinum works fantastic with the new AMD video cards, using VCE codec. Everybody was complaining in the past that the video card is not used more than 5-7 % on rendering (3% 3D + 3% copy) maximum, but now my AMD RX 580 video card is used 80% or even 100% ! Now the rendering is almost 10 times faster. Great work for the development team. No reason to migrate to other video composing software now. Only a multicamera editing support to more than only 4 cameras (like in present) is necessary. I don't know if I can find such a plugin for more multicamera editing. But the software now runs fantastic on Ryzen 5 with RX 580.

@onu777ro: For $25 you can get Vegas PRO 15, via the Humble Bundle offer, and get more cameras for multicamera editing. (Along with scopes, scripting, other pro features.) The current version of Vegas Pro is 16, but for a limited time the previous version is available. If Movie Studio runs well on your system, hopefully Vegas Pro would do the same?

This is a legitimate offer, backed by Magix. Only 5 days left to think about it.

MagixDerek,

Why do I have a watermark on the NewBlue ST Video Tuneup effect?

I paid for the Platinum 15 upgrade and registered it along with DVD Architect. Why am I having an issue applying an effect that is included in the paid upgrade download. Am I going to have to deal with this for every effect I use? Please respond quickly.

3POINT wrote on 1/3/2019, 3:22 AM

To my knowledge, NB FX have to be registered separate, they are not automatically registered after registration of VMS.

vkmast wrote on 1/3/2019, 4:18 AM

@dcinsc7 did the FX such as the NewBlue ST Video Tuneup effect come bundled with your VMS 15 P (or S)? If they came bundled with a previous version, they do not usually work without a watermark.

Could it be possible to put attention in the next VMS update to the following: Whenever when I select an icon in VMS, it shows me by a blue background if it is active or not. Except the Fx icon in the preview, in the Tracklist and in the Event turns from light to dark grey when an FX is attached. This way it's hard to see if an FX is attached or not. Please, make also the background blue when an Fx is attached, or at least like in VegasPro..

I think I have a somewhat related request: In the Timeline Toolbar (bottom of the screen) When I mouse over a disabled (grey) icon and click on it, the icon remains grey until I move the mouse/cursor away from it.. In addition, if I mouse over an active (blue) icon, it turns grey although it's still active; then if I click on it, it consistently stays grey. It would help if any icon would always show its state while under the cursor or not - just one small human-factors time/brain saver.

Still having problems with crashing (build 167). Project = 1920x1080 50fps (Double PAL), Field order = None, Pixel aspect ratio 1.0 3D off, De-interlace = blend. I am only using 1920x1080 files but there is one 3840x2166 clip (25fps) (all AVC-S). Approx 200 items on the timeline. No plugins, only two tracks of video, legacy text generated only and no transitions. Program hangs and won't do anything after about 10 mins of editing - no seemingly repeatable cause. It has even hung whilst trying to play back (not deleting/adjusting clip edges). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to solve this? Thanks.

Does your PC have the minimum requirements for editing UHD media?

EricLNZ wrote on 1/8/2019, 3:51 PM

Does it always hang around the same point?

If you suspect the UHD clip could be the problem try rendering it out on its own to 1080 and use that file on your timeline instead of the original.

EricLNZ wrote on 1/8/2019, 3:54 PM

Also you mention Build 167. Is that a typo as 157 is the latest build of VMSPlat 15.

You are correct: I meant 157. Thanks.

No it doesn't hang at the same point. However, I have rendered the 4k clip as suggested and I haven't had a hang in the last 30 mins. Thanks.

Thanks. It does meet the spec but is using a built in GPU (Intel HD 530).

Having the same issues, but the program is usually hanging after just uploading media. If I get past that point, it will crash when I resize the viewing and editing fields.
