VEGAS Movie Studio 16 Update 3 (Build 158 & 167)

Bri-Hageman wrote on 11/18/2019, 9:11 AM

Dear Community,

The third update for VEGAS Movie Studio 16 has just been released. Please give us your feedback in this thread.

If you already have an earlier build of VEGAS Movie Studio 16, there is no need to uninstall it. Builds 158 & 167 will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Keep in mind that your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

For more information, check out our official announcement with patch notes, here.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Best regards,

Bri

Thanks to the team.
I had no problems and this update for me on laptop gives a better audiofile in Screencapture. It now almost syncs with the made videofile ( only a few frames longer than the audio). BTW., still not use it because of too few settings (framerate a.o.) possible.
Still exists the not beloved way of showing the Transitions, Video FX and Media Generators

@j-v Regarding the tree view removal, the word currently is that "the VEGAS team has heard you and are considering options for improving this."

j-v wrote on 11/18/2019, 10:28 AM

@vkmast I know, but is that maybe meant for only a new version?
Version 15 got its latest update 3 one year and 6 days ago, so?

Frankly? I didn't know of those bugs or encounter them.

vkmast wrote on 11/18/2019, 11:38 AM

so?

I'm not speculating, sorry.

FayFen wrote on 11/19/2019, 12:37 AM

I knew I shouldn't update, but this morning the devil knock my on my head.

I just started new simple project.

loaded my base.vf, added the first mts file, and make new few titles. while VMS is on, I cropped and saved jpg file with ifran to my project folder.

In VMS explorer I couldn't see that jpg, no mater how I browse and sorted the folder.

So I closed VMS. The devil waited just for that, "Hey, why don't you update? "

...So I did.... Now VMS 167 crashes soon as I try to load my current vf.

So I tried to load a project I did 2 weeks ago .... same crash. (a report was sent to magix)

Only my base vf is loading, it's just one wmv file and 5 titles.

*** Well, it looks as my VMS16P -167 is now obsolete.

It will not open mts files any more. So no VMS for me.

What's my next step?

Thank you magix.

I'm not having problems with the update, not so far anyway...

Have you got anywhere with solving yours?

No, haven't done anything. no mts.

It might relate to registering the avchd codec but I don't find how.

no pop up, no error, just crash.

I had a similar crash after upgrading. There was no project loaded. I was just checking the preferences and after closing that it crashed. No error box. But it has only happened the once (so far).

Reseting VMS didn't solve the mts issue. As I have a system image from last month I guess the best way is to reload it and pass on this update.

( I had no issues with the first 2 updates...)

Strange, my mts ex a Canon Legria HFG10 vidcam are no problem.

"compoundplug.dll" is the plug-in used.

Did update fix the bug where you have to set Dynamic RAM preview max MB to 0 and Max number of rendering threads to 1 in order to render 4k video? It's been like that since release and not fixed in last update either.

Also I seem to have to do that to edit 4k video as well without encountering crashes and black frames and all kinds of problems. Of course editing is a lot slower when setting those to 0 and 1 so it really stinks to have to do that.

The update takes forever to download (I live in the woods and we don't get high-speed internet out here) and then requires me to close Vegas to proceed. As soon as I do that, it closes the updater too. When I restart it wants to update, and it starts the half gigabyte download all over again.

RgVideo wrote on 11/25/2019, 11:18 AM

Had similar problem. See this topic to download the update only once: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-movie-studio-16-update-3-build-158-167--117860/

Thanks. After seeing the problems it might introduce and that it doesn't address the one problem I have, I think I'll just skip this update. Now if I can figure out how to get it to stop nagging me every time I load it up, LOL.

des-condon wrote on 11/28/2019, 2:52 AM

Thank you, RgVideo for the downloadable link. However, once I had the download - and scanned by Malwarebytes, my over-cautiousness that has saved me in the past - I ran the .exe and each and ever time I tried, the response was always the same, "This installer is unable to Update Movie Studio 16.0 Platinum while it is running."

The application Vegas Movie Studio 16.0 was NOT running at the time so why was I continuously getting that response? I thought that once I had the downloadable update safely in my Downloads folder I was in control and it would be only a matter of running the software for the update to be completed.

I tried double-clicking; Open; Run as Administrator but none of these could get past that response. Any thoughts please?

Did you "look into your taskmanager if somewhere an instance of the program is running, in the taskmanager or the background processes"?

@des-condon

A very good point VKMast, I did look in Taskmaster and I was looking for Vegas. It didn't cross my mind that it might, and did, appear under Movie Studio.

Build 167 is finally installed.

Thank you for the tip, it worked after so many false starts.

savu-savulescu wrote on 11/28/2019, 6:56 AM

BUG NOT FIXED IN BUILD 167 -- In early November I had reported a bug (the Titles & Text media generator was not seeing the Arial Black font). Then on November 14, MAGIX replied, saying that they “have found the source of the issue. This is indeed an issue with the Titles & Text and we will go ahead and escalate this to our devs to be addressed in the future.”

Well, I just received the Build 167 of Movie Studio Platinum, and, after installing it, I verified that the bug WAS NOT FIXED – it’s still there, making my life miserable.

Why are you issuing "updates" without having fixed the existing bugs you already have acknowledged and promised to fix? The support group at MAGIX should wake up and realize that when the customer support is lousy, the users don’t waste time anymore and look anywhere else. By the way, just in case the ladies and gentlemen from MAGIX haven't noticed yet, the marketplace is full of competing products...

vkmast wrote on 11/28/2019, 8:36 AM

@des-condon thanks for confirming what worked.

FayFen wrote on 11/30/2019, 6:21 AM

savu-savulescu, you have good perspective,

An issue reported early november and wasn't corrected two week later...

I'm sure members here can tell you of known issues that still not corrected after two years.
