Much better they take their time and release a product that does what we hope while working correctly... but I too highly anticipate getting to try it out.
I answered, logged into my account from email today, have VP17 from July 16+17 purchase. The “Post” upgrade price to me is €499, just cancelled out then, not saying it’s not worth it, I don’t have a great need for it, maybe if it was a better upgrade price I’d have thought about it a bit more.
Let me give a bit of perspective... After Effects costs $20 per month to rent by itself, so $240 per year, and you don't own it, and it cannot do complex particle effects like Post can (I'm basing this on Hitfilm's inclusion of a particle generation system that is comparable to the trapcode suite of plugins for AE, which cost $200 each for form and particular (the 2 I know hitfilm can emulate). That's only one of the things that isn't included in stock AE that you get with hitfilm. While hitfilm doesn't live up to AE in every way, there are many ways it presents a very good value.
Vegas Post is Vegas Pro + Vegas Effects + Vegas Image. But I don't know if there are differences between Vegas Effects and HitFilm Pro or between Vegas Image and Imerge Pro.
I already own HitFilm Pro 4. I would really like an integrated workflow but at this (unexpectedly high) upgrade price I will need to wait and see how well the integration has been made and whether major features from Hitfilm have been omitted.

In a market of $299 Resolve Studio, $299 HitFilm Pro, etc.
MAGIX basically repackages HitFilm's Compositor/Effects and Imerge pro and then slaps it into a $999 bundle.
I just can't...
The 365 Pricing is actually palatable, so clearly that is the route they want most users to take. It's comparable to a Premiere Pro or Media Composer Standard/NLE-Only subscription. That's more worth it than VEGAS 365, which is overpriced, IMHO.
But the perpetual licenses are kind of laughable.
If you like to own, but also like to stay up to date, this is going to be comparable to an Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps subscription... and while many love VEGAS Pro... it's hard to argue there is an equivalence of value there (even if the Adobe ends up costing a little more/year).
Probably worth it for VEGAS Pro users who are tired of the bad workflow it has to other tools (due to old/outdated AAF/XML/etc. filters and lacking CODEC support) - if you're willing to subscribe to POST 365. Buy it only if you tend to sit on the same software version for a few years before upgrading (and hope an OS update, etc. doesn't break it... since we know how support works with MAGIX).
Did they at least bundle the C&R Suite audio plugins from Samplitude Pro Suite? VEGAS desperately needs some updated audio cleanup plugins.

Starting the 13th month of subscription, you will pay $35 per month, just fyi

Oh. Guess I didn't read that. At that price, Creative Cloud All Apps just give too much value for the relatively small price disparity.
At $999 perpetual, one could spend $300 more on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and get Resolve Studio with it.
This is sitting in a really awful price bracket, IMO.
They should have made VEGAS Pro Suite the Pro SKU, and replaced Pro Suite with POST.
DVD Architect should just come with Edit. You can already get it for almost nothing by buying an older version of VMSP (i.e. 14) off Amazon, anyways...

Given that VP17 is included it’s probably a fair price. The problem for some users, myself included, I had already ponied up to VP17.
If “Post” was released before VP17 then I'd have been tempted.
There are probably a lot of users still waiting for the many VP17 bugs to be sorted, updates, before upgrading. They’ll have a better choice.
Hard to know whether it was a marketing choice, release dates, or simply a difficulty getting it out. Definitely would have been better to have had a simultaneous release of all products. Then again Marketing might think that thats not clever enough? Who knows.
Since some just paid to upgrade to VP17, it would be great if Magix would release the Effects/Image part of POST as a cross-grade for those who already bought VP17 upgrade.

They have some sort of system in place for 17 upgrades, but it doesn't seem to be very organized... you have to contact them about it to get the deal. They need to do just as you suggested, just offer the bundle by itself on the website for a cheaper price than the upgrade from 16.
