@ mike - to be honest, breakfast was never my strong point - though living next door to a thoroughbred stud i'm more used to the smell of horse sh*t in the mprning than i am frying bacon. oops, strike that last sentence, what would a nice jewish boy know about the smell of frying bacon (drool, al la homer).
we're swapping over i presume - warming up quite nicely down here.....
leslie, temps have continued to be mild with daytime highs in the mid to upper 20s (C.) and nights cooling off to the low to mid teens. Great "sleeping with the windows open" weather.
I can't even begin to say how happy I am to see both Import/Export with adobe/FCP and the Panasonic P2 support. That is the kind of thing that makes Vegas so much more profitable for me.
Finally the addition of a compositing tool to the line of products that Vegas plays well with, and now HitFilm getting serious integration means that Vegas has become a lot more powerful functionality wise.
I hope that my assumptions were correct. 11 was a growing pains version where GPU preview was implemented, and the core had to have been going through some changes I think.
Also interesting to see them going back to the same as they were when I first bought Vegas and DVDA Separate, feels like the good old days a bit :P
"when I first bought Vegas and DVDA Separate, feels like the good old days a bit "
You may not be able to get DVDA Pro separate. You may only be able to get it bundled with Vegas Pro. We shall see in the fullness of time (as Sir Humphrey used to say).
Perhaps a bit tangential but I wish Vegas would give the option or just step up to a dark-gray to black GUI app background like most other apps, i.e. AE, Edius, etc. . It makes things look crisp and easy to see. It would also give Vegas a market-sexier look.
I hate black or very dark background. Why does everyone follow the bandwagon? Electronic boxes switched over from black on silver to white on black. It all looks so drab and the writing is hard to read in poor light.
And in theory, I believe you can use Windows color scheme and have it as well as the rest of your programs look however you want. You can save it and swap it when you're editing, save another theme for when you're not. I did this once upon a time before Vegas gave the option to use the darker color scheme. Doesn't mean a slider to make it darker or some other options wouldn't be nice but even if I had them I doubt I would stray far from what we already have now.

i would say that to move forward at all vegas has to have stability at its core. i really like the editing options added to 12, but if it wont stay up long enough to work with them they're of no use at all.
i am afraid that when all is said and done, marketing is driving the schedule of vegas releases leaving little time for backward glances at glaring, long standing bugs...
If SCS can't do what I say - new features going hand in hand with stability - then they really need to take a long hard look at the way they do business. Reality checking/hacking is hardwired into my terse comment above. I'll leave it to others to redefine what I say into what fits well and comforting for them. But I will keep reiterating what needs to be done. Now, how we/they go about reaching that higher ground, and the seeking of continual improvement, is where the discussion needs to be had.
I understand the tenure and nature of your response, I really do, but we/they need to move on and not get into a "blame-game" of who's responsible. What's needed is clear, uncluttered and honest thinking and the courage to say it.
Aargh! The screenshot of v12cs still looks like a Windows '98 program to me. Please polish this turd already. Update the GUI!
I'm cool with the Dark Grey, but a slider to select darkness would be better.
I'm hoping that with v12cs everything they will have had time to iron out the 64bit so there will be stability. v12cs marks the end of 32bit, right?
- Product Interchange: Vegas will no longer be an island so, what happens in Vegas no longer has to stay in Vegas!
- Color Match: Could come in handy.
- FX Masking: Awesome!
- Layer Dimensionality Video FX and Compositor: Sounds promising.
But when you open that web address you are immediately greeted with "Coming Soon - Vegas Pro 12". Absolutely nowhere does it say "12cs" except in the URL.
I imagine after it's released there will be a new URL that is simply "vegaspro12" without the "cs" on it.
