Vegas Pro 13 original plugins anywhere?

marko-l wrote on 1/23/2021, 12:38 AM

Hi,

I am still using Sony Vegas Pro13 but a couple of days ago the hard disk on my computer died and I had to reinstall everything. Vegas Pro 13 went alright but went I tried to install the Newblue and izotope and Mercalli plugins, they weren't listed in the plugins. Is this because NewBlue and the rest now only offer Magix-compatible versions of those plugins? Are the older versions that worked so well with Sony Vegas Pro 13 available anywhere? Anyone? I was almost finished with a project that I've been working on for two years now and then all the color, lighting, stabilization and audio adjustments I'd done with the plugins are gone. Well, not gone, since the modifications are still in the last .veg file I saved for the project, but not available, so gone for now at least. I would think others have run into the same problem?

I spent a considerable amount of money on those plugins but the ones I really need are (for Sony Vegas Pro 13):

NewBlue ColorFast 2

Mercalli V4

iZotope Nectar Elements

Help much appreciated,

Marko Laakkonen

Have you checked your accounts on the sites of the plug-in providers?

The iZotope one might be found here ("mirror").

Re iZotope Nectar Elements ... have you done a VST folder search in Options/Preferences/VST Effects (tab) using one of the Alternate search fields? Nectar Elements should be under one of the VSTPlugins or Steinberg folders in either or both of the C drive Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders (64 bits and 32 bits respectively). 3rd party vst plugins tend not to automatically install into Vegas Pro so a vst search is often needed.

Re NB ColorFast 2 ... the product page for CF2 on NB's website:

https://newbluefx.com/products/filters/colorfast/

... states under the Compatibility tab that CF2 is compatible with:

Magix Vegas Pro 10+

Given that Vegas Pro 10, 11, 12 and 13 were all Sony releases, it would seem likely that CF2 should work in VP13. Check VP13's Video FX window to see if it appears (or not) simply as ColorFast 2 in alphabetical order in the Video FX list (All) of plugins. Perhaps another forum member still using VP13 and who has ColorFast 2 installed could advise further.

Re Mercalli ... the user manual for V4 and V5 both show the activation and registration process for both MAGIX and Sony versions of Vegas Pro.

To avoid problems such as you've experienced, its always a good idea to keep a backup copy of the installation files (.exe) and serial numbers on an external HDD or other storage like a memory card or stick.

Yes I have. The iZotope elements they have on their page is different from the plugin that came for free with I think Pro13. It appears the links don't work (page doesn't exist)

Yes, of course that should be self-evident. Just never thought I wouldn't be able to download the same files again.

That advice on iZotope worked but it appears they don't have the original plugin that came with Sony Vegas Pro 13 on their website any more. But then I found this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-to-download-vegas-pro-13-0-build-453-last-sony-version-pre-magix-etc--103229/

and the link to the iZotope plugin that came with Pro13 actually works!

As for CF2, the media manager recognizes my key and all but it doesn't appear in the plugins list. It on occasion makes a brief appearance there but then disappears and cannot be selected. CF for some reason appears there but it lacks some of the finer tools that CF2 has.

As for Mercalli v4 the links to the free trials don't work :(.

ANYBODY OUT THERE WITH ANY OF THESE TO SHARE? ESPECIALLY Pro13 compatible Mercalli V4 and ColorFast 2

Thanks,

Marko

Would you have any suggestions re CF2 that could help the OP. Thanks.

I managed to combine my earlier newblue account with the newer one and now have all my past orders in the same account but the media manager still does not recognize the keys. For Titler pro 3 and CF 2 it says current, but these are not included in the plugins of V13.

Could the problem be that they are installed in the magix folders?

Dexcon wrote on 1/23/2021, 4:51 AM

Just a suggestion based on one of my older 'memory modules' clicking back in. I recall that back in Sony VP days, some 3rd party plugins - maybe including NBFX plugins - had to be installed after VP was installed and then the computer needed to be rebooted. It may not work but its worth a go if not already tried.

EDIT:

Could the problem be that they are installed in the magix folders?

Unlikely. NBFX programs should install in both C drive Program Files and Programs Files (x86) under a NewBlueFX named folder - even today. Please keep in mind that the currently available downloads from NBFX are OFX and not licence-locked to any particular NLE version and so need to be available to any OFX compliant NLE installed on the computer.

It is more in recent years that 3rd party 'bonus' plugins are much more likely to be licence-locked to the NLE version they come with.

Update: the link to the vegas version of Mercalli V4 doesn't respond, but if you copypaste the url to a new window, it works, as does the plugin :)! So now I only have to figure out how to make CF2 work..

jetdv wrote on 1/23/2021, 9:00 AM

CF2 will work in versions 10 - 18 so there's no issues with it working in 13. All you need to do is install it. Then it will show up in the VideoFX tab. Note that it will NOT have "NewBlue" in the name.

If, for some reason, it does not show up in the VideoFX list, please clear your VEGAS cache.

I cleared the cache and it works. Much, much obliged!

I contacted NewBlue support and they kindly sent me links to the old versions of their plugins (pre-Media Activation Manager) - those solved all the registration issues and everything now works.

+1 for NewBlue Support. Thanks/Kiitos @marko-l for letting us know.
