Vegas Pro 17 - It's Getting worse and Worse.

Kloverton wrote on 8/22/2019, 2:55 PM

A week ago i made a post about how badly VP 17 works on my laptop with i7 anf GTX 1080 and 32GB of ram. It was crashing my GPU drivers no matter what driver I use, studio or non Studio. PC completely froze with black screen. People told me it's the problem with my PC.

Ok... I came back home and tried it on my Desktop PC with i9 7960x and GTX 1080Ti and 64GB of RAM - SAME! Moving forward, software after sometimes starts saying that some files are missing, even though they dont. And the final nail in the cove was that it completely closed without a crash report or anything, Just gone.

This is not acceptable, and this is defenitly not my PC that causes problems, cause I tried 2 high end PCs already, and all of them have same problems. None of this problems exist in VP16

Well my PC has GTX1080Ti, 16GB ram and an i5 and it has not crashed once. You could post the crash report so we can help you. My current GPU driver is 431.60

Do you use proxies for video sources higher than 4K?
Do you now use the NVEC decoder as suggested before?
Are you able to say when the program is precisly crashing?

Its usable for me but defiantly not as stable. I'm just gonna stick to VP 16 until the next build. I have a Ryzen 7 2700X, 32GB DDR4, GTX 1060. I haven't been getting crash reports either just been having to kill it in task manager.

@SimplyNon_sense if it is freezing, try to disable thumbnail display on the timeline in the video tab of preferences.

This leads me to believe the issue is down to more than just the GPU driver. Files coming up missing could be a hard drive issue, are you editing files from the same external hard drive on both systems, or are you using different drives?

Difficult to say when there are many others with your same hardware config using Vegas without issue, not much to suggest what could be causing it on Vegas' end. What kind of media are you using?

@Kloverton

You need to start here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

..and don't make any assumptions about where the problem lies. Once you post details of your media, project, system, etc. we can start asking questions and narrowing down the possibilities. Without this information, people are forced to guess.

Out of curiosity, have you added VP17 as an application in the NVIDIA control panel? I am thinking this might not be the issue since you didn't encounter it with VP16, but some GPUs work better with the profile. With VP17, Quadro and TITAN require it for full GPU acceleration, but every GeForce I've tested has been fine (even the 1080 Ti, so again, this might not help.) You should also verify NVIDIA is selected in the drop-down in the File I/O tab of the options.

In the testing I've been doing, I encountered the same media missing issue, although it didn't actually impact the encode any (or anything else, as far as I can tell.)

While I agree that the individual's tone is toxic & rather unnecessary, is it perhaps possible that you can communicate with those of us who would like to aid you?

The best option would be to provide us with the crash report & DXDIAG.

That being said, while you try to pull that out, let me suggest to you the following tweak

Head over to options, HOLD SHIFT and press Preferences. Now hit the"Internal" Tab. In the "Show Only Prefs Containing" box, enter "So4

Find Enable Hardware Decoding for So4 and set the Value to "FALSE"

Sorry to hear that but the forum is not the right place to answer your question or to to help. Please ask our VEGAS support team (*not* Magix support). After a deeper look they create a technical support ticket for the developers.

@Mohammed_Anis - Quite. @VEGASPascal only needed to have dropped in that link you conveniently supply. I’m assuming that is the Official link?

Yes. It is.

I've reported a few bugs myself.

Do yourself, your blood pressure and your overall health a favor and favorite it on your browser.

And please do not ask me how I got it. It is a horror story of its own kind.

Just curious, is there an updated list of known issues for V17?

I see the sticky thread on the top of the forum for Known Issues with Vegas, but it doesn't seem to have been updated since 7-2-19. I think having something like that is good, so people can see if bug or issue has already been reported.
