Hello, I downloaded the VP18 demo unfortunately on startup it stops at Creating File I / O manager Can anyone help?
I'm in the same boat here. I would like to take advantage of the upgrade pricing so I decided to download the trial version of Vegas Pro 18 to see how it works and it crashes on startup. It is registered through Magix and I have 30 days to try it out but good luck with that. I'm glad I didn't just purchase this without trying it. I would have been really upset if I forked out hundreds of dollars to upgrade and it didn't work. I'm currently using Vegas Pro 15 build 416 (latest as far as I know) and it works fine. Looks like I won't be able to take advantage of the latest deal since I'm sure this won't get fixed in the next couple of days. I am using the latest version of Windows 10 (version 2004 OS build 19041.388) and nVidia video card driver V451.77 studio version. My computer just updated the OS a few days ago and I updated the video card driver trying to get this program to work. I hope this can get resolved.
After searching the forum I came upon this post https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-18-pro-will-not-load--122765/?page=2#ca765164 by VegasDerek and it worked for me. It appears to be a problem with the driver for the built-in GPU on my Intel CPU (Intel Graphics HD 4000). After I renamed the So4Reader.dll file as directed in the post Vegas Pro 18 started up. The post claims hardware acceleration is disabled by doing this. I haven't tested it yet, but if hardware acceleration is disabled for my nVidia hardware then this isn't much of a solution.
I have installed the latest driver for the the Intel Graphics HD 4000 (version 10.18.10.5129 dated Jan 21, 2020) and Vegas Pro 18 still crashes with So4Reader.dll being loaded. I have disabled the Intel Graphics HD 4000 internal graphics from the BIOS of my motherboard and Windows 10 is still recognizing the internal GPU. I disabled the Intel Graphics HD 4000 in Windows 10 device manager and Vegas Pro 18 starts up just fine with So4Reader.dll being loaded. My nVidia GTX 1060 6GB graphics card performs the hardware acceleration just fine. I am just going to leave the Intel Graphics HD 4000 disabled in Windows 10 but the solution would probably be disabling the internal graphics on the motherboard and uninstalling the Intel Graphics HD 4000 driver within device manager. I'm not going to do that right now since I am just testing to see if I want to upgrade to this version. It appears that Vegas Pro 18 is not compatible with the Intel Graphics HD 4000 on my i7 3770K processor. Maybe this is something Magix can look into.

Thanks for the link. Never bothered to check the System requirements and the recommended minimum is a bit higher than the previous 3 generations of Vegas Pro which were:
Vegas Pro 15, 16, 17 recommended specs
Vegas pro 18 recommended specs
The computer I am using Vegas Pro 15 on is quite old but still works great. I will be building a new system after September when all the new hardware comes out, but I have tried Vegas Pro 18 on my system with the 3rd generation i7 processor and it runs fine after I disabled the onboard Intel HD 4000 graphics.

However, I then get a crash when I attempt to use colorization. It may be that colorization and other functions need hardware acceleration in order to work - however there seems no guidance for this or warning when attempting to use it. I have an active support ticket for these issues but no solutions as yet.
It may be that my Asus laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and driver 10.18.10.5129 is not allowing any later driver to load (e.g one prefixed with win64_) and I am therefore stuck with a functioning VP17 and a partially functioning and crashing VP18 - not what I bargained for when I satisfactorily tested the trial VP17 and subsequently purchased the VP17 to 18 package.
I have am AMD/AMD build. No intel besides the network adapter.
Renamed So4Reader.dll in the following directories.
Tried renaming in just one folder then in just the other and it crashed. Have to rename both.
Same problem with Movie Studio 17 Platinum (clean install)
I have Intel HD 4000 video card with Radeon RX 460 (4 GB). If disable Intel card, program is running, if enable, I get same error. File rename no helped, because program starting, but when I try Advanced file export, then program crashed again.
Sony programs is incompatible with Intel HD 4000 cards? Or cannot handle two graphics cards?
