In the future might it be possible to sort the fixes into categories like video, audio, online, general? It's a little overwhelming to have these as such a long list (though great to see how extensive the fixes are!)

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with latest driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

Absolutely AWESOME!!

That is one impressive "fix list"!

AV1 render can't wait to see if it works on my computer build.

"red/blue" swap in Vegas Pro is now fixed for AMD drivers!! YEA!!! Using AMD's latest 23.11.1 right now with Vegas Pro 21. I guess I can wean myself off of the "old reliable" 22.5.1!

Stability in the way I edit is great now! I have edited for several hours without any crashes so can't wait to check out the stability! Editing 4K 50P and using Boris FX, Vegas Color Panel, Vegas Titles and Text, and using keyboard shortcuts where I can.

I haven't tried the Smart Mask yet, but have something I want to try it out on.

Much appreciate the hard work and the "listening" of the devs to the problems and issues reported in the forum.

Thanks!! 😁

I will consider doing this for future updates.

This is really an impressive list! Probably the most extensive since I started using Vegas 4 or 5, I can’ remember.

@J-Toresen This update is a little low on features, but we do have some major stuff in progress right now. We felt we could not successfully get the new features done unless we really focused on getting the app more stable first. We are really hoping this update will prove to be a very positive one for our users.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 11/3/2023, 8:12 AM

Yes, the list is impressive. But what I like more are the improved stability that I have seen in some tests, and the consequent way how Vegas is improved - and will be improved further.

Well done!

@VEGASDerek

The most important thing is that you and your team concentrate on improvements and bug fixes. New features are less important if people experience crashes, slow responses etc. And we are all looking forward to the new video engine. Continue the important work!

"Automatically close the FX window when the last plugin is removed from the chain"

BTW, can this unexpected behaviour be switched off? Makes me mad, to always have to reopen the FX window, when I accidentally remove the last plugin.

The fix is to the strange behavior where a non-operable Fx window stays open after the last audio Fx is removed. It never used to be like that and takes a click to close it.

I see your point about it going back to the plugin chooser after the last audio Fx is removed and that could be useful. Video Fx stay open because pan/crop is there.

There is no change for video Fx, because pan/crop is there you the window doesn't close after the last Fx is removed. To see the bug try adding and removing a VST.

That Shirley is meant to be hyperbole. I’ve done projects with no video fX. I never do projects without an audio fX.

@john_dennis Who is Shirley (apart from being the name of a personal friend) and where does she fit in?

Dexcon wrote on 11/4/2023, 5:10 AM

Who is Shirley?

@EricLNZ ... It would have to be a reference to a line regularly spoken by Leslie Neilsen in the super-funny 1980 "Airplane" feature film ("Flying High" in Australia and maybe in NZ as well). It would go something like this:

Character (US accent) "Surely you can't be serious?"

Leslie Neilsen: "Yes I am ... and don't call be Shirley"

Perhaps it's a suitable time to remind forum members that we are an international community and your local slang and sayings may be lost on others. Especially to members who aren't fluent with English and rely on translators to make posts and read replies.

Perhaps "Shirley" was an earlier version of "Karen".

I took it as a play on the pronunciation of words. In the film, the US-twanged pronunciation of "surely" sounded much the same as "Shirley". IMO, "Airplane/Flying High" was a screwball comedy on steroids.
