Looks like a bug to me. I've noticed in 17 that sometimes when I click and drag it creates an in point from where I click on the icon which I find kind of annoying.

Never did that in earlier versions, I am using the newest build of 16 Pro.

You accidentally trimmed the clip when you gripped it in the Project Media window.

It did it in all builds.

How can you stop it? Once you click on it, you are screwed and must delete it from that folder and import it again.

If I think I have accidentally created a selection while hovering over the thumbnail, "press I to set the In Point and O to set the Out Point. To edit the In and Out Points, drag the selection borders with the mouse." (From online Help item Project Media Hover Scrubbing, a new feature in VP 16.) Then I drag vertically (VP 16) from the Title area.

Okay I think you hit the nail on the head here. Question when I accidentally trim it, how do I reset the clip to drag the entire clip to the timeline? I tried to press 1 and 0 and nothing happens. What can I do to reset it or do I have to delete it and import it again like I have been doing?

vkmast wrote on 10/27/2019, 9:32 AM

You should press I and O, not 1 and 0. Btw, note also this.

I am trying, but how do you reset the clip? Thats what I am trying to do, and o and i are not doing it. What am I doing wrong? Can I turn the feature off? I hate it and never use it. Do you have a link to the user manual?

User manual is built into Vegas. Use Help/Content and index .. Use the Index tab and search on Project Media Window .. learning to use HELP is so important. It amazes me how folks ignore this. In the help, it explains things about trimming the media prior to dragging to the timeline. If you want the entire media, drag it from the edge of the thumbnail (the solid white or blue area) or turn thumbnails off and use "list" mode. This is a feature that has caught many of us. It's an attempt to create a sort of trimmer type thing in the Project Media thumbnails. So dragging media from the Project Media window is not what it was -- simple. It's all explained in the help.

I was not aware of that, I downloaded the PDF, I printed the page 68-69 out and found when I accidentally get the trimmer, in the Project Media Folder, to just expand the area to the entire clip and double click it and it adds it to the timeline.

The item @xberk and I refer to is in the online Help (F1) of the software. See "Using the Project Media window", which also includes "Project Media Hover Scrubbing" as a sub-item.

I just wish there was a way to reset the trimmer to off when that happens.

I found it and printed it out, but there is no way to turn it off or reset it once you enter trimmer mode. I found a way to work around it, expand the entire clip and double click and it adds the entire clip to the timeline.

vkmast wrote on 10/27/2019, 1:22 PM

The "reset" is dragging the I and O Points /borders. From Help: "To edit the In- and Out-Points, drag the selection borders with the mouse."

Thats what I have been doing. I don`t know why they have that feature in the first place, if I need to trim, I will use the trimmer window. Do you know if you can turn that thumbnail trimmer off forever?

vkmast wrote on 10/27/2019, 2:14 PM

Your question has been asked before, e.g. here. Not implemented so far AFAIK.
