Vegas Pro new versio release cycle?

MReFIN wrote on 5/4/2020, 3:27 AM

Hi (again),

I have been using Vegas since version 4 up to 10 (and 14 bought from Humble Bundle). Then I concentrated more on photography for awhile. Now back to video editing.

I was about to upgrade my Vegas Pro 14 to version 17 with the current $249 price but what is the release cycle of Vegas? When I checked the releases of 15, 16 and 17, all seem to be at August and on consecutive years. Should it be safe to assume that 18 will come out around Aug 2020? I mean, if I now spend $249 for new version, would it be "old version" within 4 months? Then I probably be more safe with Vegas 365, at least for time being.

Also what has been the "normal" upgrade price when new version comes out? $249 or $199? I'm still referring to Vegas Pro.

Thanks for all the help and nice to be "back".

Vegas Pro 16 launch prices

Vegas Pro 17 offers at launch time August 5, 2019

VEGAS Pro 18 development is well on its way (4/29/2020)

My records show that the intro upgrade price for VP15, 16 & 17 Edit was $199.99 USD. Yes, they were released in August in consecutive years, so there would be a reasonable expectation that 18 might also be in August this year; but anyone who actually knows would unlikely be able to release that info as it would very likely be commercial-in-confidence information.

Thanks vkmast. Should've known that this has been already covered.

And thanks Dexcon: yes, I know that the version release date is confidential information and - as we all know - we live strange times at the moment.

But to summarize: I think I'll opt for 3 mo subscribtion for Vegas 365 and then re-evaluate the situation at August. I have now the trial which will expire at Jun 3.

Great to see that the community support is at least at the same level as it was 10 yrs ago :)

A 3-month subscription seems like a good solution in your case. Don't forget to click "Purchasing details" for important info.

@MReFIN
If you have Vegas Pro 14, consider whether you should take Vegas Edit.
VEGAS DVD Architect has not been developed since then.

Yes, that's one possibility. Especially when I do not have much use for DVDA anymore. Youtube et.al. kind of killed that format. For me at least.

Indeed. Unless there's any interesting extra(s) included in VPro ("classic") for you worth the additional price at the time you decide to upgrade.
