maybe not always but 99%of the times and all promotion" give impression as if it's special price and this is false

For many many months I kept receiving weekly emails from magix telling me about special price ending soon and every time I get emails it is same price but different validity date. this bad marketing plan will only fool new users that get the offer for first time

I've found Magix to be obscure in the extreme as regards its various offers. I would recommend that if an upgrade is not urgent for you then it may pay to just hang around until an offer more appropriate for you pops up.

For example I wanted to upgrade from Vegas Pro 17 to Pro 18 but leave it until the start of 2021 for tax reasons (various other hardware and software likewise). The last one of many identical offers was for Vegas Edit at £119 and Pro and Suite suitably higher and ran to 27th Dec 2020. It included Sound Forge Pro 14 for free - something I planned to add because I really ought to get more fluent with audio editing. It later transpired that SF14 was apparently included with Vegas Pro 17 anyway but confusingly a SF14 link was NOT included in my Vegas 17 Pro purchase email even though the other links were there.

However the next offer, hot on the heels, was until 19th Jan 2021, and the prices were from £149 rather than £119 for Edit and likwise higher for Pro and for Suite. No mention of Sound Forge Pro 14 at all so I did clarify that with Magix direct just in case its description in some other pages mentions SF had been left there in error.

The then current offer describes it including BCC Optical Diffusion and Wizard FX Suite - quote - "free with your upgrade to the latest version of Vegas Pro 18".

Clearly these extras were NOT FREE!!! Also I did install and register BCC even though it is of no current interest to me. I did that because apparently it expires after 3 months if you do not do that. But I have received an email from BCC reminding me I am on a trial - wrong. I replied to BCC but no answer.

This confusion, and some may say sneakiness, is a growing problem among software sellers and others. For example I've used Capture One Pro very extensively for two decades. They bigged up its upgrade from 20 to 21 but refused to disclose what the upgrade would actually involve. When we did receive our upgrade we found we had paid a lot of money for next to nothing.

OK the cost of Vegas and the cost of Capture One Pro upgrades are not enormous in themselves but in the context of professionals timing everything such as newer desktops and laptops, new bodies such as the Canon EOS R5 etc, to avoid the 2020 tax year in favour of 2021 for obvious Covid reasons, it all adds up.

I am liking Vegas Pro 18 very much and am ditching my longer term comparison tests with Davinci Resolve. Particularly liking the new features of the Color Grading tool, the retirement of the 8-bit legacy, and the addition of FX Favorites. But why does Magix have to be so much grief.
