Vegas render percentage progress window not showing?

Easyweb wrote on 5/10/2022, 8:55 AM

Hi guys, this is probably a really simple fix but I have no idea how to do it if you can kindly help?

All of a sudden the main progress window when rendering isn't showing up anymore, you know where it shows the percentage, time left etc... that's not showing for some reason anymore when I render.

I'm wondering if I accidentally clicked a setting somewhere and didn't realise as it was there before every time and now when I render it's not showing anymore.

I can see the percentage at the bottom with the cancel button but the main window that would usually pop up when rendering a video in the middle.

Can anyone help me get this back please, I've been trying to find online how to do it and nothing has changed with my render settings, I'm using the same one's I do for all my video's recently but I'm guessing I must have accidentally clicked a button somewhere to no longer show the progress box that usually shows in the middle when you start rendering.

Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon :)

Yeah I've checked all that lol It's just not there at all lol

I don't know why cause I haven't changed anything which is why I say I wonder if I've accidentally unchecked something and not realised, I know with Vegas one of the most frustrating things can be accidentally pressing keys and changing something with them being shortcuts, I see people all the time asking about how to get a mouse pointer back or whatever due to this so I'm guessing I might have done this and not realised but I don't know lol

Does no one know how to get this back then? I still can't get it up, so confused as to why it's randomly disappeared.

Thanks to all who kindly reply :)

Though it may not work, go to View/Windows Layout and click on Default Layout.

If that doesn't solve the problem, try resetting Vegas Pro back to its factory settings via this procedure making sure to check the delete cache option when doing so.

Ok thanks for that, I really appreciate it!!!

Just tried to Windows default layout thing and it didn't work, bit nervous about the factory settings thing though, will I lose any saved render presets I have as it took me ages to get those right and I don't want to lose them.

I'll try see if there's a way to get it back before rushing to that cause surely it's just something you click to show it or not, it's so random how it's disappeared lol

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it :)

No, you won't lose anything you created. It just resets all the internal settings back to factory defaults. So you'll need to go to Option - Preferences again and change anything you changed there as well as under File - Properties.

@Easyweb  ... If you want to be sure that you don't lose your custom render preset templates, copy/paste the following render folder to a backup - C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\VEGAS\Render Templates. In Windows Explorer, you will need to have Hidden Items checked under the View menu to see these folders.

Ah ok, thank you so much, I really appreciate you guys dearly!!!

I've sent a message to support to see if they can help so will give it a couple of days and see what they say, it's been quite frustrating as it's probably a simple thing but I don't expect anyone to know exactly cause it's not something people would want to turn off really I don't think, however thank you, I really appreciate you guys dearly!! :-)

Ok guys, I contacted support, they just said do what the guys in the forum are saying so ...

I've done the reset, hasn't fixed it, still doing the same!! :-(

A little video here to show you.

I'm still struggling with this and getting really upset!! It's been about a week this has happened and searching Google it seems to be a regular thing but no one has a fix for it.

I just saw this video here and read the comment from CWATTYESOGamingForFun at the top, he has the EXACT same issue but randomly got this back from deleting some temporary files (I've done this and still have the same problem).

See this video here and the top comment (open the thread to read the replies):

Honestly, I absolutely love Vegas and feel it's a wonderful program but the amount of errors is pretty bad, specially for the amount you pay for this too it shouldn't have this many errors.

Since purchasing Vegas around March I've had:

- Render gets to 100% and waits ages before finishes.
- 3D transitions are glitched (which the team admitted here)
- If a project ends on a transition (say an image moving off the screen) it leaves the last frame of the image on the video meaning you have to use the little yellow triangle thing to render a bit more on your video at the end to get the last frame to be blank after the transition.
- Every so often you'll get a crash with the programme shutting down.
- And now the rendering progress screen going missing with no idea how to get it back.

I'm hoping Magix get back to me soon with a fix on how to get this window back as it should be something simple, I've had this problem for about a week or so now and for the life of me can't get the window back and I have no idea how to do it, it just randomly disappeared at some point.

I've also tried the fixes in the video as well as the suggestions here but still the same problem.

I'm honestly getting really upset about it now as I've tried for help for a while now, hopefully Magix will reply to me as it is the weekend at the moment.

This really shouldn't be this difficult! 😟

Have you ever saved a system image of a working system?

Did you save a system image prior to installing Vegas Pro 19?

Did you save a system image after installing Vegas Pro 19 when you were satisfied that the program was working to your expectations?

Do you have any idea what I'm asking?

Do you have any idea why I'm asking?

On my desktop computer, I have had the exact same thing happen to me. Vegas support pointed out when I installed Vegas 19 on that computer, things were working OK with the render progress dialog appearing again, so their advice was completely uninstall vegas and re-install it..

I've never done that and just tolerated the missing dialog, although I still am disappointed that they weren't interested in really tracking it down, rather than just saying to re-install.. clearly something is up that the box is gone for you, me and anyone else this has affected.

Yeah, the comment in the video I linked the guy said he completely uninstalled and removed Vegas and did the reinstall but it didn't work for him either. I've been trying to fix this for the past week or so but hopefully Magix will get back to me, it's the weekend so will give them time to see if they can help 😊

Anyway, I appreciate you dearly and that kind response, thank you so much! 😊

You could try and use the free SeMW Extensions (Render progress) until this gets solved.

Question. how fast are your hard drives? Are they mechanical? Open Task Manager while you are rendering and watch to see if your hard drives are being accessed at the end.

- 3D transitions are glitched (which the team admitted here)

It is always good to give specifics when trying to figure out problems. Which specific 3D transitions are glitchy? The ones I have used, there were no problems on my computer.

- If a project ends on a transition (say an image moving off the screen) it leaves the last frame of the image on the video meaning you have to use the little yellow triangle thing to render a bit more on your video at the end to get the last frame to be blank after the transition.

I just finished a video with a fade at the end and there were no "last frame" problems. But you have solved the problem. Is that a "big thing"?

- Every so often you'll get a crash with the programme shutting down.

I've had that also, but usually a restart and I can work for hours afterwards.

- And now the rendering progress screen going missing with no idea how to get it back.

This is the first time of me hearing of this. And to expect any software team of any software to drop everything to figure out how/why this is happening on your specific computer (which they do not have in their possession) and get a result in a few days is totally not reasonable by any standard. I don't know if you've ever done any programming, but ask a programmer how much trouble shooting would be required, and to make sure the "fix" for you (I've never had that problem in 5 years of using Vegas 14-19) doesn't trash the majority of users who don't have this problem. And @vkmast offered a solution for you problem. I still have that installed and running during rendering even though Vegas has one showing too.

I'm honestly getting really upset about it now as I've tried for help for a while now, hopefully Magix will reply to me as it is the weekend at the moment.

Wow.... I'd get my money back if I were you.

Hi there, I've done the task manager thing and they're still running, they do finish but all of a sudden they have been taking ages at the end, they'll get to 100% and around 20 mins (maybe) I have to wait for it to finish, you know the noise you hear when a project is complete. It's not a major problem but it is something I've been wondering why kinda thing, again it's not something that bothers me massively but it has confused me a little as to why it's done this.

The 3D transitions I did a thread on and they've already added the problem to the list, so there is a problem with them.

The fade thing at the end, no it's also not a big thing, I just have to remember to do what I mentioned with the yellow triangle, it's just another little thing that I've had to do lately which never had a problem with before.

Yeah, the restart thing seems to fix better for me too with the crashes also, there has been times where it's crashed constantly but I've put that down to maybe a glitchy file in the project maybe, I guess this is just a stability issue which future updates can always look into anyway, I tend to save my project a lot more now so it's not too bad.

The render screen going missing, it's not uncommon. Lots of people have had the issue and there's no one who's found a solid fix.

One person fixed it by chance with the temporary file thing mentioned in one of the images but it's just guess work and I did this but it's still not appearing for me 😊

And no, I don't expect them to drop everything so don't assume that, you can see that above anyway when I said about it being the weekend and it's fine waiting on them. I believe in kindness and am very patient so please don't assume that, I'm just asking for help after been trying to fix this a while and struggling.

I'm going to try @vkmast's suggestion too (thank you VK!!) and see how I go with that, as I mentioned in a previous reply I'll wait for Vegas to get back to me with hopefully a fix, at least if they are aware they can look into it and add it to their list for future improvements when doing this, so it's all good in the sense 😊

Honestly, just keep it kind guys and thank you so much to those who have kindly helped, I appreciate it dearly 😊

@Easyweb when the rendering is complete, that is when you have to wait for things to finish, correct? And while you are waiting, what specifically is being used in Task Manager besides CPU.

I'd opt for a Revo Free uninstall and then reinstall for the missing dialog box to see if that fixes it. Also make sure Windows is up to date.

Hiya 😊 Yeah, it's like it'll get to 100% and then will be paused there a while, probably about 10 - 15, maybe 20 mins you know before you hear the noise when it's finished and complete (which at this point the "Open Folder" and "Open File" button would show when the render screen is there). It does finish and it's absolutely fine but initially I wasn't sure if the programme had froze because you can no longer hear the process going, just see it on 100% waiting for it to finish.

Memory is also being used when rendering but I'd have to check next time I render a project at the 100% part to see what shows, it's not a major problem but is just something I've noticed lately which it does now 😊

Thanks for your time too, I appreciate this as I realise people don't have to help so thank you; it's just little things really apart from the render screen missing which I do want back the most 😊

I hope this helps 😊

Edit: My windows is up to date by the way and I will try the little fixes, thank you, I really appreciate you guys 😊

@Easyweb if your hard drive is still being used after the 100%, the finished rendered video is now being written to your hard drive. If you have a slow hard drive, a hard drive that hasn't been optimized, etc., that will be the reason.

You are now using what @vkmast suggested for the missing rendering window?
