Ver10-0e Volume Envelope shows, but doesn't work

IgorPictures wrote on 2/28/2014, 11:40 AM
I've used Vegas 10.0e for years and have frequently used Volume Envelopes with no problem. However, recently I started editing a 7 track audio-only project and added a number of Volume Envelopes to raise and lower certain sections of certain tracks. On playback it didn't seem to make a lot of volume difference so I removed 6 of the tracks and played just the one back whilst wiggling the envelope blue line up and down. Nothing was happening!! For example, at -inf dB the track was thumping out of the speaker.

So I started a whole new project, added one mono track and added a Volume Envelope. With no anchors added it seemed to work. Then I added an anchor and it stopped working (just left the volume at 0dB even though I pulled the line up and down. Then I removed the anchor and it still didn't work.

As I said, this is weird because I've used this installation of Vegas Pro 10.0e for many years and have never noticed this before. Neither has the laptop I run it on changed at all in that time either.

Thought truly welcome....... Igor.....

I am facing some similar behaviour with Vegas 18. Volume envelopes have worked fine for me in the past. But in this one project, I've added the volume envelope on a track, which is not doing anything for some reason. Any clue how to troubleshoot this?

Without seeing the actual projects, it would be very hard to determine what might be happening.

@IgorPictures

I tried Vegas Pro 10.0e on a twelve year old machine running the latest version of Windows 10 and it worked as expected. That's one in a row.

Igor never posted back eight years ago so maybe he solved his problem?

@crazyapple automations could have been inadvertently disabled in the tracks header or master. In this case, the envelope display could still be visable as well (been there done that).

That was it! Must have been one of the effects plugin I had applied on audio track and taken off. You're a life saver @rraud!

@crazyapple
Feel free to tag @rraud's post as a solution.

@walter-i.please note that @crazyapple was not the OP looking for a solution.
