VMS 16 Platinum (Build 175) Update 4 - General Discussion

Bri-Hageman wrote on 12/23/2019, 7:56 AM

Dear Community,

We have released the fourth update to VEGAS Movie Studio 16 Platinum (build 175). Please give us your feedback in this thread.

If you already have an earlier build of VEGAS Movie Studio 16 Platinum, there is no need to uninstall it. Build 175 will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Keep in mind that your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

For more information, check out our official announcement with patch notes.

Have a lovely rest of your year everybody!

Best regards,

Bri

Strange that you post it in the VegasPro forum and not the VMS one...

But even more stranger is that you don't alert that this update probably is not compatible with win7. and should not be used there.

The current Specifications / System requirements https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-movie-studio/specifications/#productMenu : "You need a 64-bit version of one the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 10"

Movie Studio 16 and MS 16 Platinum users with Win 7 OS are advised not to update from build 138 (basic) or build 142 (Platinum).

Here we go again, a 505mb download at the average speed of 66.3kps, a couple of hours to download, which should only take 3-4 mins at the most

Seems this is not universal as earlier today I downloaded the "download manager" and installed #175 in less than 10 mins.

I'm just downloading Build 175 and now have the same slow download problem. It is going to take hours which is not normal for Magix downloads. Still if the internet is like local shopping malls it's very crowded out there!

robertOZ wrote on 12/23/2019, 4:39 PM

It just never ends does it, took 2 hours to download, then installation is corrupt, so I don't even have Movie Studio 16 Platinum installed anymore

How do I get images to upload correctly ??

My download is still ongoing but I notice the download speed fluctuates greatly. Presumably congestion somewhere. I'm downloading from the link not the auto update.

Thanks for the warning @robertOZ I'll create a System Restore point before I run the update. As for your problem can you install the previous build 167 assuming you saved the file somewhere.

@vkmast Or north-east if you travel clockwise as the world is round 😀

If your download is slow, try the "mirror" below. Might be quicker, although I don't know if it is an alias or really a different file.

There's an index of downloads here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

I am also in OZ. Took 2 minutes to download just now from the direct link and another minute to install. It almost took longer to start (it's picking up all the Sapphire Render thingies I installed with VP 17).

Interesting EricLNZ, that you and others experienced such download delays. Is it a case of too many people attempting to do so at the same time?

Out of curiosity, and aware that update 175 is now compatible with Win 10 only, I downloaded this update, took about four minutes to download, a little bit longer to install and only when I reopened VMSP 16.0 v 175 did the message pop up advising that some features may not work. My curiosity was satisfied, update 175 and future Vegas releases will no longer work with Win. 7.

So I deleted the update, re-installed update 167 and had no significant delays or glitches that I am aware of.

On reopening VMSP 16.0 update 167, a message popped up with the offer of an update. When comparing the features of this update I saw they were identical to update 175, that we know is not compatible with W.7.

Of course I ignored that update or I would be repeating and repeating in a loop.

Now my search for a new PC with Win. 10 begins. Any recommendations for what I should look for to make working with Vegas even more enjoyable. I am not asking for brand names, just the essential 'ingredients'.

Happy New Year

Given the time of the year it could simply be network congestion at various points around the globe.

No need to buy a new PC, you can still upgrade your existing W7 PC to W10 for free. I upgraded last week a 10 year old notebook (used as a Mediaplayer for my Music archive) with W7 to W10. Upgrading goes automatically and just takes an hour or so from your time.

This update ruined the product, I uploaded some 2K video clips that play and sound fine but as soon as I bring them into Movie Studio the audio is clipping like I have a bit rate problem. After rendering the audio is still bad. Product is no longer useable for me, I have several videos I need to work on and not able to use this product or reach support.
THANKS FOR BREAKING MY SOFTWARE!
