VMS 17.0 Platinum no longer runs after update

Honestly, I would have stayed with VMS16, if not for the constant nagging to upgrade. There was a checkbox in the nag screen for "Don't show this message again", but it doesn't do anything (seriously, why include such a "choice" if you're not going to honor it?)

So last month I gave in and upgraded to 17.0 - it was a major frustration, (see here) but finally worked after I installed a better GPU. Then shortly after that I started getting notices that I should install an important update. I ignored them for a few weeks, then finally installed. Now the program WON'T START AT ALL! It crashes on startup.

And, of course, there's no way to revert to the original, pre-update version...
I posted this as a comment on this thread yesterday. I've noticed I'm not the only one with this problem, but have seen no responses to it.

I submitted a support ticket yesterday. No response yet.

Have you tried to uninstall the new update and download the previous build #143 from section 6 here? (Surprisingly, currently for me only MS Edge is able to download from there, but Chrome shows "void".)

Thank you, I'll try this.

I found a different download page (where I had the same experience, could not download with Chrome, but succeeded with Edge), but the 143 build of 17 platinum was not an option there. (I downloaded and installed both 17 Pro and Movie Studio 17 non-platinum before fiturin this out).

Downloading it now, I'll post back results.

Thanks again!

This worked, THANK YOU!

Now, is there a way to stop the update notice from popping up everytime I startup?

Thanks for confirming. Re the update notice, one of the discussions that may or may not help.

I upgraded my graphics card AGAIN, (this time to EVGA GeForce 960 4GB), so I thought I'd try installing the update (build 204) again.

I can't tell whether it works now, because now it's attempting to load my entire VST plugin library (audio effects and virtual instruments I use with my music production software), and hangs halfway through. Grrr! Is there a way to make VMS17 bypass all plugins on startup? (NOTE that ! cannot get into the program to change any settings within it)
