What are the differences between Vegas pro 16 edit and Vegas pro15?

Hello,

My brother (22) would like to edit gameplay videos but insists on Sony Vegas because he’s used to it from when he had it a couple of years ago. I would like to get him Sony Vegas Pro 16 Edit or Sony Vegas Pro 15. Are there major differences that would affect video editing long hours of gameplay footage? Also, is amazon a good source (backed by prime) to buy it? I’m a noob and appreciate any help. Thank you!

Sorry, Sony is no longer affiliated with Vegas Pro 14-17. Magix now owns the intellectual property and markets the program. Just buy Magix Vegas Pro 17. The differences are too numerous to explain to a "noob".

Note also that the VEGAS Pro 17 product pages are here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-pro/

Before purchasing please do not forget to check Product Comparison and Specifications. There is a free 30-day trial version available to download and install.

Just a suggestion but Movie Studio Platinum (not the basic version) may well be more than adequate for his intended use, and if he finds that he does require the additional features of Vegas Pro there is an upgrade path, which in fact may work out cheaper than jumping straight into VP. Based on the current website prices, VP17 Edit can be purchased for US$299.00, or you can purchase MSP16 for US$59.99 (which also includes DVD Architect that may or may not be of use to you) and if you then need to you can upgrade to VP17 Edit for $US199.00.  MSP17 is likely to be released soon – possibly as early as 12 March when the current offers are due to expire (but I have no inside info on the timing).

Cheers, Robbie

PS Whichever version you go for take note of the system requirements - particularly the Operating system requirements (Win 7 may not be supported for newer versions)

No release date for MSP 17 has been announced yet, but Windows 10 will be required as is the case with VEGAS Pro 17.

Why Pro, but not Pro Edit? Do you think someone who editing game videos will be putting them on DVD?

Assuming your brother had a legitimate version of Sony Vegas he should qualify for upgrade pricing to Magix Vegas Pro 17 on Magix website
