When can we expect the register server to be up and running?

huskereurocat wrote on 11/1/2016, 10:02 AM

I have MSP13 that stopped working on my desktop PC, so I reinstalled it. It is now asking for me to register my product. I keep getting an error that says the server can't be communicated with. When is this server going to be up and running? It is now day 3 without my editing program and my productivity has tanked. This is bordering on rediculous. This means that anyone that purchases a Magix product can't register or use the software. I can't imagine that the company is making any money.

I also called Magix customer support and they told me that the register/activation server is down but could not offer any solution other than it is being looked at. That was 2 days ago. It would be nice to have some kind of knowledge about this instead of being in the dark.

Every time that I try to register I do that regedit thing first and delete that liscense folder. It creates it every time that you try to register the program. Nice thought, I wish it were that simple. Bottom line is that the server is down and Magix needs to get it working again. Unless it is working and there is something else wrong here.

You would have thought Magix would treat this as a serious matter.  It's not very encouraging.

Adding info for Developer / SCS/Magix Server maintenance staff:

On Oct. 30th 2016, I download & install a freeware MAGIX Photo Manager 16, able to activate and register it smoothly without any trouble.

Did you still using Sony Creative MSP13 or newer rebranded Magix MSP13 ?

Just assume the newer Magix version is doing activation process directly to Magix server besides of Sony's where it needs to go to SCS' server... (Don't know their detailed process on this - but it's just my assumption)

I'm sure I read somewhere that transfer had been completed so activation of Sony versions was being handled by Magix?

huskereurocat wrote on 11/1/2016, 9:30 PM

It says on the Magix website that your former SCS will register and activate should you have to reinstall.

I have tried both. First was the original program that I downloaded. Then I decided to download a new file from Magix. If I am not mistaken they have updated it and it has a new build number, but has the same file name when you download it. It asked if I wanted to overwrite the file that I had already downloaded is how I know they are the same file name.

I finally was able to open a support request without registering a product via the Magix website. We will see if this gets any traction. I have to agree with EricLNZ that this does not seem like an issue to Magix at all. As I said before I talked to a CS agent on the phone and they were aware as of Sunday afternoon that the register/activation server was down. From what you are saying in your post it sounds as if I was being placated on the phone. Tomorrow is another day and Magix CS will be contacted again. I may just have to ask to speak to a supervisor this time. The more time that goes by the more I am thinking that I need to just move on to another editing program. The only thing that has kept me with this program is that the community has a wonderful support system and is able to answer questions very easily. If I didn't have to interact with Magix I think I would be quite happy. It was not a pleasant experience from the start with this company and its proving to continue  to be bad!

As the Magix mods may not regularly visit this little bro section of the forum, here's Magix CM's previous comment from elsewhere relating to the matter in hand.

That don't help you none at the mo tho.

I suspect that, at least some of this, is my fault. On Sunday in my conversation with Magix CS they told me that my product nor my email address was registered with Magix. That got me to thinking about the time period when I purchased this software. I remember telling the agent I got in touch with then, because my product would not register due to merger issues with the crossover of platforms, that if I was not able to activate my product I would want a refund of my money. It seemed way to fishy at the time to take my money and then have to wait for who knows how long to register and activate my product. I then found out about the registry fix, proceeded with it and, a-walla, it worked and all was right with the world. I didn't think anything more about it until this last round of issues. Well.......I went back and, sure enough, Magix credited my CC. That explains why they didn't even have my registration nor email info in their system.  So what I did is, last night, I purchased the program from the Magix website and that didn't work either. I was not able to register/activate my product last night. I was very frustrated and mad, thus my post from last night. This morning I saw vkmast's post and learned of the manual product registration feature. Registered my product via that method and was able to activate my copy of MSP13 on my desktop. Now all is right with the world and I am back to editing again.

Thank you all for your support on this and vkmast for noticing that post from another thread.
