Which program is most like Vegas 6.0?

Hello, I am the ED of a non-profit that records audio for the visually impaired. We use Vegas 6.0 for our daily tasks and production of sound recordings. We recently had a virus that forced us to upgrade to Windows 10. Will Vegas 6.0 work on Windows 10? I know it's very old, but unfortunately we have used it so long with many volunteers and they are familiar with it. We downloaded the new Vegas movie trial and it looks like a big learning curve. Any suggestions for a simple transition would be greatly appreciated!

"Will Vegas 6.0 work on Windows 10?"

Have you tried to install Vegas 6 on Windows 10? There are compatibility settings in Windows 10 that allow many older programs to work in Windows 10. Sometimes the installers won't work so one can't get out of the gate, but one came overcome if she is persistent enough:

What's an ED?

If your success depends on these systems, you need to protect your effort by saving a system image so you can restore the systems after a virus strikes. Use a system imaging application like the free version of this one:

No, we are going to have to buy it again as it was an actual disc that is no longer available to us. ED= Executive Director.

See if you can download Vegas 6 using the methods mentioned here, sections 3 and 4. Or from the list here.

From vkmast's 2nd link, here is a direct link to Vegas 6d: https://web.archive.org/web/20140923232715/http://download.sonycreativesoftware.com/current/vegas60d.exe You will need your serial number.

If you have to "start again", and you are only doing audio, then consider Reaper. I understand it was originally based on Vegas and is more Vegas-like than most DAW software. Non-profits qualify for the discounted $60 license.

@bailee-h You should be able to qualify for an "academic" version, which is the exact same thing as the "pro" sold at a discount. https://www.genesis-technologies.com/magix-vegas-pro-edit-17-upgrade-school-license.html.html

I do not know about VP-6 in Win 10. I suspect it will install and work ok. .. if of coarse you have a VP-6 serial number. I have VP-9 installed on my Win10 laptop and it runs just fine

The UI on the newer versions of VP is very similar to that of VP-6, so the users should be able to work it almost immediately.

Yes, Justin (WinAmp) Frankel's Reaper is an audio only option and was inspired by the Vegas' intuitive UI.
