WHY isn't Vegas Pro supporting Immersive Audio?

I am really surprised that in all these years of surround technology, that Vegas has yet to even offer 7.1 let alone the new immersive standards. At present only DaVinci Resolve is supporting ATMOS. Why is that? Are filmmakers fine with the limitations of 5.1 with stereo scores?

I've been using Vegas since version 7 to test my scores for my clients, as Nuendo didn't offer the option to render video at the time. That became a thing of the past almost 4 years ago now. So, I had almost no use for Vegas except to edit family videos. But once I started working on ATMOS mixes of my compositions, I assumed that I would need Vegas again to do Blu-ray test Prints, only to find no support and worse, no plans of support. So I've been forced to consider DaVinci, which I don't like.

With so much push from ALL the streaming platforms, Netflix, HBO, and all the car manufacturers on immersive platforms, can anyone here explain WHY Vegas is not adopting this in it's updates?

ATMOS= Dolby and that means big licensing costs. Are there open standards that achieve the same effect without dealing with Dolby?

Dolby's NOT the only game in town. What about Sony's 360 Immersive? They couldn't make a deal there either?

and all the car manufacturers

The only Atmos standard that is actually surround sound is the multi-speaker systems that have overhead speakers. All the other stuff is fake surround, and not much better than ProLogic TBH unless you're using headphones.

What about Sony's 360 Immersive

Same thing, through headphones, sounds great... not so much over speakers.
