Won't Install on Computer

Photographer wrote on 6/4/2019, 9:21 AM

I downloaded the trial version of Movie Studio Platinum 16, but for whatever reason, it won't install. I have version 15 and it works perfectly. Can anyone assist me please?

I have an HP Envy computer with an Intel i7 8550U CPU 1.80 GHz processor. The computer is only two years old, so I can't imagine that being an issue.

Thank you.

Thank you for getting back to me. I really appreciate that. I see from the first link you provided that a system requirement is a 2.5 GHz processor. That is bigger than mine. I suppose that since my processor is smaller, it won't install. Is that correct?

It should still install. What is the specific error that you are seeing?

Actually, it doesn't give any error messages. After you select the programs I wish to download, I click install. The little blue wheel within the window starts to turn indicating it's installing, then very shortly after the wheel stops turning, and it shows 0% installed, and the continue button highlights. So nothing, in affect, happens. I let it sit for the longest time and no changes to see if it is loading, and no changes. I re-downloaded the trial software again, and the same happens. Strange, to say the least. I figured if there was an issue with the computer processor not being supported, a message of such would have appeared, or should have appeared.

Maybe your computer safety option does not allow other program s to install something.
Go to your Documents where in the Magix Downloads/Installationmanager location your install file will be stored and try to install it by hand,

It doesn't allow me to go that far where 16 is creating files to download to.

Instead of the FAQ I mentioned earlier, you should check this one

This I can't get, I was not speaking to do that in this project or file, but as an easier way to use that kind of GOPro 7 files in the future, so they edit easier in Vegas 16 in the future.
Once you made a file you cannot change it for editing besides through converting.

@j-v re GoPro files, this thread or this one?

? GoPro 7 files? I didn't say anything about that. All i want to do is to install Platinum 16 from the downloaded trial version file

@vkmast and @Photographer,

Sorry, my comment was a mistake and I confused it with my answers on the Pro forum to which @vkmast linked to. 😕😕😕

See https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/ section 5. Direct links. Read the first paragraph there and see the installer options under the heading Vegas Movie Studio 16:

Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum download manager or Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum Update 1 (build 109).

Read also section 2, 2nd paragraph there. And note section 3 in the FAQ.

I will give it another try based on the info from the link you gave me. Thanks. I will let you know how it turns out. If it doesn't work, I will have to confirm that it has something to do with my processor not being fast enough. What else could I assume.

Edit: Just to let you know, no dice. It didn't work. This is a screen shot of that comes up. The wheel on the left of the program supposedly being downloaded stopped turning. 0% shows to the right, and the the button continue in highlighted. It just won't install. Darn nuisance.

Downloaded and tried Microsoft Fix it. That didn't work either.

You could also consider checking some of the other points in the FAQ. And not that it matters here, but now you are trying VPro instead of VMSP.

Looks like a download problem, not an installation problem?

That's what I'm thinking. Something is blocking the download manager from getting the files needed for installation.

Has the OP tried the Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum Update 1 (build 109) or (mirror) installer? Turned off antivirus software?

You comment got me to thinking. Windows Defender was blocking it. I deactivated it, and everything installed as it should. Well, I will say this, Windows Defender is doing it's job. I just have to remember to turn it off the next time I have this issue.

@Photographer thanks for coming back and confirming the solution.

To All Who Helped.

The problem has been solved. MagixDerek got me to thinking when he mentioned that something must be blocking it. It never dawned on me that perhaps my virus protection program is doing that. So, I turned it off, an sure enough, everything loaded as it should. Now I have two programs to check out. Movie Studio 16 Platinum, and Vegas Pro 16. Thanks for all of your help guys.

Cheers

UPDATE: Sorry I did not read the bottom post, it seems you already resolved it by doing so :)

I had the same issue, but following some advice from tech support, I just had to disable my antivirus program first. I have total AV which means, according to THEIR tech support, meant I needed to temporarily remove the app from my PC and restart, and then try the installation of MSP 16 again. It worked! I am not sure if will also work for the trial version, but I too saw no progress on the installation prior to the antivirus removal solution. I would say to give that a try. Your antiviral program may not even need you to uninstall to remove its features.

its finally worked. Not exactly sure what I did. I turned a cloud function of the windows defender off but i am not sure if that was the issue.
