In previous versions, the Active Take information was black text on a white background. With VP19, the Active Take background is inherited from the track color. If the track is intense burnt-orange (new VP19 track color), the Active Take is black text on that same intense track-color. As the new track colors are intense, Active Take can be very hard to read. How to restore the visuals to VP18??? I prefer lowering the Track Color intensity, returning Active Take to the easy to read Black on White, and in general, all the VP18 color schemes, which quickly and easily readable. Reducing the internal 'Opacity' level to VP18's setting helped somewhat, but it's still a serious deficiency for me. Dittos for the Fx and Pan icons in the envelops, white on black works better than the track's colors.
A few questions I haven't seen answers for so far / potential show stoppers:
Does VP19 support 10-Bit HEVC 420 and 422, and has GPU support for timeline playback acceleration for those formats? (Sony A7S3, FX3,..)
If there's no 10-Bit HEVC 422 GPU timeline playback acceleration support, can those files still be read on import and converted into a proxy of choice? (and rendered in original quality on output)
Is timeline playback read-ahead improved so that frames no longer get dropped between clips on a busy timeline where a PC would clearly be capable of sustained playback speed
Is it possible to manually grade 10-bit LOG footage in a LOG kind-of way, not just Linear or using a LUT transform?
360 Source: Where are we at with 360 editing? This has been pretty poorly implemented in VP18, has there been any progress / improvements?
Subscription vs Outright: Is it that subscription has 1 seat, and outright 2, why not give subscription 2 seats?
Colour Charts: when can we see support for Xrite Passport Video to match cameras, auto grade?
Multi-Aspect Editing: When can we see simple multi-aspect reframe / output from a single timeline to cater for various social media formats on output?
Initially looks good. 4 issues encountered so far:
1. When using preview on 2nd monitor (screen pixel count smaller than main display), preview picture is partially visible also on primary display.
Initially I had this problem also. I discovered it was related to the SeMW extension which I had installed for use with earlier versions of Vegas. I uninstalled SeMW and the problem was gone.
If you happen to have SeMW installed try removing that and see if it fixes the misalignment. Their current version does not seem to be compatible w/ V19 (yet?).
as I suspected, I will stay with 18 till the end of the beta testing cycle of 19 before I migrate over..my first thirty minute impression.. Buggy, Red screen, slow slow sluggish... :)
Red screen indicates a GPU issue and isn't something that's been reported much. I suggest you start your own thread and see if there's a way to fix it rather than waiting. Performance-wise it's similar to 18 for me.
yeah, ,no time to trouble shoot right now.. I did a render and it came out all fragmented. when I get some spare time I will work through it. God knows I know how to trouble shoot Vegas :). for now 18 is rock stable and I have videos to put out every week so when I get time I will screw with it but it did all sort of weird stuff like taking forever to read in the audio peaks and play back was terrible sluggish and a pre-render into memory was painfully slow. But like I say will more than likely wait till the end of the beta testing cycle next year before trying to move to it if my past experience is any indication.. thanks!
9 times out of 10, a GPU driver update fixes the red screen issue. Check the GPU driver update utility in the VEGAS 19 help menu.
Thanks I as just updated studio drivers in june but it seems there is newer, I will let you know if it helps

all I can say is that it helps! and .... just wow.. smooth..
When I try to show full screen preview, the rectangle, instead of filling the right hand screen of my two, is shifted about a fifth of a screen to the left and oiverlaps both screens
EDIT = Yeah, ok found it - it's that new Alternate DPI setting!
Magix didn’t post details on v19 while the 18>19 offer was going on, so I opted for Edit, assuming that I didn't need Pro based on the limited published information. Two days later, they released v19 and posted the new Pro specs, which now include add ons that were not included with v18…nor disclosed prior to the previous sale…AND at a significant discount from the previous offer. Not very cool, in my opinion.
Had I known the proper v19 specs in advance, I would have ordered Pro, or waited for the release. Making things worse, the Magix sales team promptly denied me a refund so I could re-order the Pro version of v19, meaning that I’m stuck with v19 Edit - and I paid a pretty big premium so that I could use v18 for all of three days. I would gladly pay the difference in order to go from Edit to Pro now, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be allowed to modify the purchase that I made earlier this week.
This type of marketing only serves to burn loyal customers, who trust that when they take advantage of an upgrade offer they are going to be treated like a loyal customer ~ not kept in the dark, and then essentially price gouged for upgrading early. This is beyond disappointing to me, to the extent that it almost feels like I’ve been scammed.

Did you ask to do this explicitly? It seems others have done just that. Perhaps try shop@magix.net and ask about paying the incremental cost?
Been playing with V19 for a day.. WHY on earth was is necessary to change all the Colour schemes for the Track and Waveform and Icons. It looks a complete mess compared to the Neat layout of V18. I assume the colours were changed to make it look like a Different version rather than making it easy for users to spend time trying to change it, which does not seem possible
You've just almost perfectly described the Magix Update Service that is being scrapped.
@john-brown Except that my understanding, from complaints on the Magix forum, is that if you reinstall you lose all the updates that you had received. Whereas the method fr0sty describes enables you to retain your updates.
@harry-worth there were those here in the forum who wanted an overhaul of the UI. So you have some that wanted it, others, not so much. Can't please everyone. At least there should be an option for default VP18.
But, and this is me, I've been editing since 1990. Started with a bunch of Amigas and the Video Toaster. As time went on and NLE's appeared, I've had many since then. But one editor I never bothered with was Vegas. Why? Ugly interface. It look disorganized and "messy" compared to the other editors I was looking at and using.
The ONLY reason that I've been using Vegas for the last 4 years is because I actually tried VP14 Edit (HB) and loved it. Ugly, yes, but it worked like how I wanted to.
A "color/good looking" UI will attract at least attention to the product. And presenting a "smooth" interface will help new people to editing at least feel comfortable as they learn how to use the editor.
I am getting continual crashing in Vegas pro 19 when using .mov files [legacy QuickTime checked ]. The only other thing being used when doing this is the primate green screen studio plug in, and a text generator. My machine is a 10th gen i5 32 gigs of ram all solid state drive. P.s. Vegas pro 18 is not crashing or freezing with the exact same set up. Any help would be great. Thanks

I was not aware that the text-to-speech was only available in the subscription version, so I tried it because the options for the subscription version are clickable in Vegas Post permanent version.
One can log in to the Vegas Hub but...you can do nothing there. After logging in to the Vegas Hub and then trying to change the screen layout, the project media was no longer shown. Only empty squares. After clicking on another tab-window and then clicking on project media again, the program hangs. No error screen, just a paralysed program. Because the error was now permanent - every project I opened had the same problem - I had to reinstall the program to make it work again.

I have been using Vegas since Version 9.. All I am saying is that WHY fix something that Ain't Broke. I would much the developers to add move features that just change colours to show it is new and refreshing. A new user to Vegas Pro 19 would not know any difference. Anyway, lt's see how it pans out...
I pointed out the caveat about rolling back to the last purchased version upon a reinstall in my first post on the subject. I don't believe that the Update Service is being dropped because some users had to reinstall after not having renewed the Update Service, but more likely because there was not enough money in it for Magix. They did not get the revenue that they anticipated. What @fr0sty is implying would be even worse for the company. Most users will not pay unless there is something substantial to be gained.
@fr0sty - you mentioned that new features would not be tied to a fixed period. The quarterly period that I mentioned was the plan, not the result. Magix was unable to meet quarterly updates, so new features were issued whenever ready, maybe twice during the year. Most users did not notice except for Xara users; they were more vocal.
A few users have asked about new features from version X to Z (say over 2 versions) and I have referred them to the Update History pages. The usual reply was that there was hardly anything new so it was hardly worth upgrading. I can only surmise that they looked at the last update, usually the newest version, and ignored the interim releases. Too much to read, I guess. This is what one would be faced with if there were interim releases - not much in reserve to make the next version worth paying for.
Obviously, Magix/Vegas has some kind of idea about what they would do. We can only guess. But, I am sure that it would not be something like the Update Service.
I understand the source of the royalty free stock media for Vegas Pro 365 subscription comes from Storyblocks, anyone know the source of the text to speech engine. I'm looking for the name of the company or website.
