Where can I post a feature request for Vegas Pro?

RogerS schrieb am 05.12.2023 um 08:56 Uhr

You can add a request here as a post.

vkmast schrieb am 05.12.2023 um 13:44 Uhr

Still possible to add comments with feature requests in this specific thread.

I would like to see Default Project Folders where you can set your default rendering destination, esp. for batch renders. Every single time I'm rendering clips in the current project I'm on, I have to click through to find my rendering SSD, because it defaults to the drive where my project is located on. I think it's common knowledge that it's better to render to a different, fast drive than the one your assets are on. Anyway, being able to set this as well as a favorite preset for batch rendering would be very time saving.

Better export and import handling. Better XML support, and bring back AAF support!

I think the area that needs major improvement in Vegas Pro is the text area. Overall, the method is too old. I wish we could benchmark Adobe to work with text a little more efficiently.

SnarfConsortium schrieb am 11.02.2024 um 07:08 Uhr

Being able to save a preset that includes animation keyframes for text and other generated media. The standard text and title presets that come with Vegas have animations saved, why are we not able to have keyframes saved in our own presets?

e,g., If I want to add my own custom pop animation for subtitles on a video, I have to

1. Open a project with the animation keyframes already there, which is not always feasible

2. Recreate the keyframed animation in new projects each time and hope that I am close to the same animation

3. Purchase a third party solution for an already premium product for a feature that is found in nearly every other NLE available

There is a workaround for this... instead of saving it as a preset, you can save it as a project. You can open the project in another instance of VEGAS to make edits to it (change the font, text, size, etc), then import that project into the timeline of whatever project you want.

Geforce RTX 3090

I'd like there to be a way to exit full window mode without a keyboard (esc). Right-click on the mouse and "exit full screen mode" would be perfect.

I have had a situation where VEGAS was on the only screen, the keyboard got disconnected and I had no way of getting out of the program.

Someone probably put it before but:

- An option to see the Grid Overlay in the External Monitor when using 2 monitors.

I'd still like the ability to lock an entire track with just a little padlock on the track header...

If it were a piece of media that I was going to need once or twice in the project then yes, I agree that saving it as a project would work fine. I already do this when I create intro and outro stingers.

But this method falls apart considerably when doing something like animated captions where there will be hundreds of text instances. If we were allowed to create an animation preset for the text, like many other NLE's out there, it would speed up this process considerably and make Vegas much more user friendly and appealing to potential users.

Setting to set the default audio fade when drawing a fade out at the end of an event. I never use the fade off at the end and always have to change to a quick fade at the beginning.

The ability to keyframe audio on a per clip basis, not the entire track with the blue line going through it.

I would like the ability to adjust all parameters of the Track Motion section via midi or other hardware controller. For example, being able to assign the X, Y and Z axes to faders or to knobs would be ideal for 3D Source Alpha. having automation functionality also in this way would be very useful for compositing. Currently it's possible to invoke the Track Motion panel via a Mackie Control (or equivalent), but opening that panel seems to be as far as it goes. Enabling similar functionality for Pan/Crop would be great also.

Is there any possible way to implement Robust High-Resolution Video Matting?

https://github.com/PeterL1n/RobustVideoMatting

Here is an Ofx plugin for building youself.

https://github.com/smunaut/rvmofx

It seems there is an ofx plugin, but I have to build it in Cmake somehow. I never did it before. Does anybody knows how to do that?

If you double click to highlight the space and press 'Delete' the clips and Markers all move to the left, as they should. But if you 'Right-Click> Close Gaps' Only the Clips move and the markers stay where they are. It would be nice if 'Right-Click>Close Gaps' moved the makers too.

Hello. I ask the creators of Vegas Pro to include a simple but very useful thing for us, in the explorer sign somehow, like a dot, a green comma, etc., on the icon of the file that is added to the time line, and at the moment of deleting it from the time line, that signature should be deleted, so that we know which file we used and which one we didn't. Working with many video files is very difficult in Vegas because of this. I've been waiting for this improvement for over 10 years, since I've been working with Vegas Pro, I've bought absolutely every version of Vegas from version 13 to now, and I'm amazed that something so simple and useful, that in Pinnacle still existed with 15- 20 years ago, we still don't have it in 2024!

Reyfox schrieb am 26.03.2024 um 16:56 Uhr

@LaurenR, I've in the past suggested adding a colored "dot" to any thumbnail that is used in the timeline for quick reference. Still hoping...

Also, adding a "padlock" in the track header to lock and unlock a track. Quick and easy.

I was in the process for adding the "is used" indicator, I was blocked from finishing it...don't ask why.

Locking and unlocking a track...sigh. Adding a lock/unlock button...sure, that's easy. Actually locking or unlocking a track...not so easy, unfortunately. Often requested...often attempted...and always failed to get it to work without major side-effects.

These are high on the list of things we would like to try to get done, so hopefully one day we will get them implemented.

@VEGASDerek, I won't ask "why" you were blocked from finishing the "is used" indicator. I just hope it gets added, maybe VP22? 😁

If locking/unlocking a track causes that much of an issue, can a "menu" be added that will make it easier to do this?

Meanwhile you could use the smart bin option. Create a smart bin with NOT USED MEDIA and a smart bin with USED MEDIA. As soon as you drag an event form the NOT USED MEDIA smart bin to the timeline that event will be removed from that smart bin and added to the USED MEDIA BIN. So you easily can distinguish between USED and NOT USED MEDIA in your project.

Where the command is executed from is not the issue. The problem is actually implementing a lock on the track level. The way tracks are structured in the VEGAS code base along with the mouse handling code and the drawing of the timeline results in a bowl of spaghetti to get through that does not make this easy to do, unfortunately. The concept seems simple, but it just is not.

Speaking of Mouse behavior in Vegas, the scroll wheel doesn't always control what it's pointed to. It does nothing while pointed at the right-side scroll bar in track view. And operates as a zoom instead of scroll when pointed at the bottom scroll bar, contrary to typical windows behavior. I like that it controls zoom inside the track area and use that allot.

In CGP, the wheel works great if pointed exactly at or below a color slider. But if the pointer slips a hair above the slider, which often happens when rolling the wheel, it instead shifts the color center to the right... moving the center should only happen when pointed within the circle. Even pointed within the circle, there's no way to move left of center with the wheel. Whereas holding shift allows the wheel to move up or down from center.
