@Jep  ... From memory, the Next button doesn't become available until all the mandatory personal details have been entered (and that may be more than just your name and email address) and at least the 2nd checkbox re the privacy policy at the bottom of the window has been checked.

I have tried many times, I can't activate VP13. I get Computer ID error, see attached screen shot. I am using the Computer ID obtained from "Settings / System / About ". Thanks in advance for help.

I should also add that I did go through this process an older Sony era application today to ensure everything still worked and it does work as expected.

Thank you for the help. I was able to create an Activation Code. The instruction say "Copy and paste the activation code provided into the field in the SCS era app prompt" however, when I open VP13 and complete the form, I am never asked for an activation code. Where do I supply the activation code? Thanks in advance.

30-60 seconds later I get this error.

Please refer to the response that I provided in that thread that should have solved the problem for you ... as it already had for another forum member with the same activation issue.

You need to post in the Vegas Pro area although as this is a user forum it's unlikely anyone here can help you. You may need to contact Magix sales.

I have a current annual license for Vegas Pro 365. Doesn't that include Sound Forge 18? it was in the download!

I can't get a license number for SF 18... Magix refers me to the Vegas forum, but it's a current Magix product.

Caught between a (serial) rock and a hard place. I could drop back to SF 14 or 15 - but why do that if 18 is included in the bundle.

SF 18 doesn't, of course, recognize the current Vegas serial number.

If you own a license of an older version of Vegas Pro, Vegas Movie Studio, DVD Architect, Sound Forge or Acid Pro and are trying to activate it, you will no longer be able to use the original activation workflow. The reason for this is that this older software will try to connect to a Sony server which is now no longer in operation.

You may still activate your software using the off-line method by following these steps:

  • Log into the service center on vegascreativesoftware.com
  • Click "create activation code"
  • Type in the serial number for the SCS era software
  • Type in the computer ID (or machine ID) provided by the SCS era software when prompted
  • Copy and paste the activation code provided into the field in the SCS era app prompt. 

When I follow these instructions, it never prompts me for a computer ID number. It says "Product has not been registered yet". Then it tell me to "Go to product registration". When I do that it says "Product already registered". It's an endless loop!

I again tested the procedure with two (strike that) three SCS era applications and was able to reactivate them successfully.

As @Dexcon re-wrote here, "After entering the serial number in Sony Movie Studio 13's registration/activation window, keep proceeding with that window and it should create and display a computer ID in a new window.". I kept proceeding: Retry > Retry > Cancel. After that I was able to successfully follow the advice you quoted above.

Well, I'm glad it worked for you, but the service center page is not giving me a chance to "Type in the computer ID (or machine ID) provided by the SCS era software when prompted". As I stated, it just goes into the endless loop of "Go to product registration", "Product already registered". There is never an opportunity to enter the computer ID number.

Which version of Vegas Pro are you trying to activate? If it is (Sony) Vegas Pro 10, did you ever see it listed at your old sonycreativesoftware.com account ("My Account > My Software").?

Or does it show in "My products" at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/support/service-center/ ?

No. it doesn't show in my products, so I think it was registered by another email. I have no idea which one though. I've tried all that I can think of from way back then. I never used sonycreativesoftware.com.

Hi guys, I have Sound Forge Pro 11.0 and have just changed laptop. Now I can't install it on my new laptop, 
as it returns an error when trying to register it. I've tried obtaining the authentication code, 
but it just says it IS already registered when trying a different way. Just to say again that I need 
to register. So I'm caught in a loop - like others are also reporting. Have tried reading through this thread, but can't really see what exactly is the solution. I've tried contacting support, but even then I get an error (The support request could not be saved). So I'm really confused as to how to get my product to work again. Hopefully someone more tech savvy than me can help
