It's a known issue. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-17-first-impressions--116502/?page=4#ca725226

@Jessariah67 - Yup, I need this fixed - kinda now? @VEGASDerek - Pretty Please!?

And yes @vkmast I'd read that First impressions thread. I want this Video & Audio Trimmer Tracks fixed. For 83.97% of the time I use Trimmer. How did this get out from under the BETA Testers? Maybe it didn't.

In some circumstances ("visual" scrubbing...), I'm having to "trim" on the timeline. Not fun at all.

@Jessariah67 - Exactly. I’ve developed my Vegas Narrative Skillset with the Trimmer at its Centre. Trimming on the T/L is what I just had to do. It’s Lumpy and messy.

This will be fixed in the next update.

@VEGASDerek

Would there be any hint of when the next update might be?

The thing is that many new issues come up, such as:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-17-mouse-issues-in-project-media-list-view--116981/#ca729452

... but I assume that there must come a time when MAGIX decides that the line is drawn and the next update adresses issues to a certain point, and new issues will be addressed in a following update. However, it would be well worthwhile listing in the update notes what known issues are yet to be addressed in the next update.

At this point, all I can say is that we are putting the finishing touches on the next update right now. We hope to start release testing on it very soon.

@VEGASDerek - “Oh Trimmer Man, when yah gonna come home? Oh Trimmer Man, when yah gonna come?” Vegas Pro without The Trimmer just ain’t Vegas Pro.

Not quite Sinnerman, so apologies to Nina. 😊

@VEGASDerek - Thank you.

I don't have VP17, so can't tell you if this works or not. But from reading about this problem it sounds like the zoom buttons are not present on the user interface within the trimmer window?

Have you tried the zoom keyboard short-cuts?

While in trimmer window

Zoom height of audio waveform= Shift+Up/dwn arrow keys

Zoom horizontally= up/dwn arrow keys (Also the Mouse scroll wheel works for this)

Jessariah67 wrote on 9/11/2019, 9:00 PM

I never used zoom buttons (I just tried the kyeboard chortcut, and that doesn't work, either). Mousing over the seam changed to a sizing icon (like you get when you resize any of the panels, tracks, etc.) Mousing over doesn't work at this moment in 17's trimmer.

I just saw if you right-click in the trimmer window, there is a command on the pop-up menu to "Show Video Monitor." If that's unchecked, you'll get a trimmer view that has an enlarged audio and video track. I guess to make the track larger or smaller after that, you would have to undock the trimmer window and then resize the window. There is also a plus and minus button showing to zoom the trimmer timeline. Although the trimmer video monitor is no longer showing at this point, you can use another menu command to show the trimmer video on the preview monitor (CTRL-P to toggle between timeline video and trimmer video).

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

@Robert Johnston a similar suggestion as in your comment also discussed here.

Bummer. I was hoping it could be a temporary work around until the update. I prefer to work with the keyboard and mouse scroll wheel short-cuts especially for zooming and scrolling, I always found it a more efficient way to work but it does require digging into learning what those KB short-cuts are.

For those with trimmer problems, I am not positive, but the resizing may be available if you turn off High DPI mode in the Display preferences.
