I do like the play, pause, stop etc buttoms but don´t like toolbar icons open, save, save as etc in the upper left corner especially looks too dark in that area and too distracting, Magix needs to fix this in the next update

Like IE and Chrome? Really?  That is like comparing apples to electron microscopes. A minimalist UI only leads to wasting time with more button clicks as you expand menus and search for the next menu or dropdown to find the next setting etc. That is like saying, lets streamline your hand, you have too many fingers!

As to using a laptop, while I know some use a laptop in a pinch, how are small buttons beneficial to pro users creating content on 4K displays? You think they want small buttons? You think they want displays optimized to a laptop screen?

Yes Magix need to rebuild the UI, and yes now It looks like Internet Explorer. There is any wasted time with a minimal interface,  if you are a PRO user, it is assumed that you know all the shortcuts. The size of the buttons need to be at least 20% smaller. I'm just a Vegas Pro user for about the last 12 years, so my opinion It's most than valid.

Question: "Who likes the new buttons?"

The shape and size of them is OK, but if I am looking for something quickly, I spot it by colour initially. By making them nearly all monochromatic, we have lost that. Plus it just looks kind of drab and dull up there in the top left corner.

VidMus wrote on 9/20/2016, 11:55 PM

I do not like the buttons at all. They make finding things very difficult for my older eyes. Need colors to make them easier to see.

All so true.  Whoever is in charge of the "look" of Vegas doesn't get it.

Once the initial VP14 bugs have been fixed, I bet (hope) improved GPU acceleration goes to the top of the devs' backlog.

A little bit of feedback from Magix on this would be good!  Hope only goes so far, it's not like they don't know about the issue, yet it's still on the back burner.

There was a little feedback here.

Well for me some new features are great! I have really waited for native ProRes support, and the performance of my 10bit Shogun ProRes files is great. And I am happy to have that within the new version.

I like the new UHD support for my Decklink 4K Extreme. Something that was missing for a long time and that is great.

A point that I DO NOT LIKE is that the preview performance for XAVC I 50p/60p was not improved. That newer GPUs are still not supported. That are future points for the development team to work, I think.

But for me the new version is a good step - together that the development team can continue to improve the software. What was not so clear for a long time if that will happen at all.

So I see that positive.

it's a tricky one... on one hand, it's definitely a good direction, and lots of issues solved that we've been asking for years, so definitely you can see they listen and care... on the other hand, it does look more like it should be just one of the builds with fixes for v13... but i'd say it's sony's fault that they didnt bother.  and i previously said in this thread, the gpu support (or lack of it) would require a much more time to get it done right, and i think they made a right decision to realease this one with all those small changes that were annoying us for years, and now they can calm down and start working on bigger issues and new features.
So, basicaly now it will all depend on the price of the upgrade... is it worth the full upgrade price we usually paid... probably not. will i get it anyway... probably yes.

We must return to the color buttons, monochrome buttons are very bad decision.

I tested the trial and same comment, buttons need to stand out more.

I'm very happy with it. I'm regularly editing videos that are 15-20 minutes long and I'm in the middle of a new one. I haven't experienced a single crash and I'm about half done with the project. Sony legitimately made the expectations of a Vegas session so bad for me, that it seems like a major upgrade to be not dealing with the crashes.

do like the buttons. It's nice not to have the crappy '90s buttons Vegas has had the entire time I've used it. Some of them aren't perfect (mute/solo are a bit weird in their orientation) but I do most things via keyboard shortcuts anyhow.

Using Vegas like something that has been professionally developed and supported is something I haven't done it years. My confidence in MAGIX in regards to the Vegas line of products is now very high and to have a stable version with all the issues Sony left us with... it's really great.

Can someone please post a GOOD screen-grab of what the interface looks like. The buttons everyone is talking about.  Thanks.

Oh man, I cannot import or edit any mp4's anymore.  Worked in 13.  Not only that, RED footage isn't observing .RMD changes - meaning I can't color correct in RedCineX.  And no modern Red Colorspaces or Log.. What's the deal, this isn't Red Support?

Well EXCUSE me! I have only been using for about 11 years so I can see where your much more qualified. :p

Although, I find your claim suspicious that you have been using for 12 years. This is only your second post to the forum? Great community member you are! Or, perhaps you were using cracked versions and couldn't register for the forum.

Anyway, it doesn't matter to me anymore. Considering this 'upgrade" appears to be more of a downgrade coupled with the seemingly questionable upgrade business practices of Magix, I won't be upgrading. If I ever need another NLE, I'll learn something else before buying and relearning vegas.

How do you get the updated software (not vegas pro, I have that, but the new titler with the Suite version and the proDAD Mercalli V4 software? I have serial numbers but no links to the actual software...

Eagle Six wrote on 9/21/2016, 5:04 PM

This isn't a solution, but until someone specifically ansers you question, ProDAD used to have a trial download of V4+ SOL.  I'm not sure if they offer the Vegas Pro plug-in as a trial, but if they do, you could download and install and see if it accepts your serial numbers.

Earlier today, after installing the Vegas Pro 14 trial, I re-installed my Mercalli v4 plug-in (which I had for Vegas Pro 13), and then only installed the Vegas Pro 14 plug-in parts.  Went perfectly.

I downloaded the titler pro software and it wouldn't take my new serial number... Off to tech support I guess. I was excited to see these new plugins. I'm liking the software so far, came from movie studio 13 and it ALWAYS crashed when doing slow motion. This new version played my latest project with no crash at all! and it looks much "crisper" on my preview monitor.
