Bothersome track name bars

Hello,

I don't quite know how to explain my problem but here goes; I'm using VEGAS Pro 15 (build 177) and just recently updated it. There're solid track name bars (don't know what to call them) on the timeline and they are really bothering me. I have multiple projects that include dozens of video and audio tracks and thus it's important to keep them slim to get them fit the screen at once, but the track bars make that impossible. Even if I got used to the solid colors instead of small icons of the video, fading and so on is hard without extending the track to see what I'm doing.

After glancing at few videos on Youtube, I fear there's nothing I can do to change it, but I'm still asking; is there some setting to get rid of that bar? Or is it possible to go to an earlier version? I couldn't find anything before build 177.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

I think you may be referring to the "Active take information. " The setting to hide that is in the "View" menu..( at least in VP 9 and 16)

This so called Event headers can be switched off in the Event Hamburger Menu.

@mary-k Can you attach a screengrab of your timeline so that we can see what you mean?

Could you actually mean "Event Headers"? Click the Hamburger button (3 horizontal lines) and deselect them from the opening menu. (As @3POINT already advised.)

VEGAS Pro 15 build 177 was the initial build, released August 2017. The last one was build 416 from November 2018. It should be available to download using options described in sections 3 and 4 here. Before you update your build, make sure you have a proper license from MAGIX.

@mary-k The first time when I saw these Event headers, I didn't like them either. Now, I think they are really useful, because in projects with multiple tracks you can minimize events to only this Event header. Since you're able to make them visible or not, use them as needed.

Shutting off event headers and active take info won't make the minimum track height any shorter. Though you might get a few more tracks if you turn off the tool bar at the top and the status bar at the bottom and drag the track view all the way to the top at the expense of your preview unless you direct it to a 2nd monitor. Better than that requires a taller main monitor. My Benq is a moderately priced 4k-32 inches. Which can rotate to a vertical orientation giving more tracks in a skinny view. Asus makes a 65 inch 4k gaming monitor but it's really expensive. If you have a 4k big screen tv, you could also try that. Have used a 4k 55-inch Samsung while on the road and it wasn't bad.

Build 177 didn't have Event Headers in the Hamburger thing (or much else), but it was there after updating to 416. Now it's the timeline I know and love. Thank you all for the help!
