Can not update Vegas pro

Hi,

I am trying to update Vegas pro to the latest update. If I say install now, the update is downloaded to my computer. Then I ask it to install now, Vegas Pro closes. The task manager also indicates Vegas Pro is closed. it starts the install, I get an error message "The installer is unable to update Vegas Pro18.0 while it is still running". I have also tried to install the update after Vegas closes, the same problem.

I have the same problem when I want to delete a file right after I close Vegas. But then I usually just wait a couple of minutes and then it will delete.

Can the update be updated manually? Can I run the update manually? What folder is the update downloaded into?

Did you try downloading from your MAGIX Account > My products or MAGIX Download Center?

Hi, Thanks for the help. Late last night I found the update file in AppData/Local/Vegas Pro/18. I ran the update and it works the way it should. My version of Vegas Pro is up to date. Thanks again

That is where you should indeed find an *Update.exe using the procedure you mention in your OP, i.e. in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Vegas Pro\18.0. Thanks for confirming what worked for you.

Can confirm vkmast's "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Vegas Pro\18.0" worked for me.

OK so by going direct to the download I was able to download and install the update to VP18. Great, build 4. I tried using it and it is still buggy crashing approximately every 20 minutes or so but more importantly I no longer have access to my Hitfilm Ignite, Colourfast or BCC plugins Nothing I do installing or re-installing these plugins solves the problem. So I output my project as an EDL and import it into VP16. I lose some information for the edit as you can imagine which I spent an hour or so fixing but now all my plugins are working and not one crash in over three hours of editing. I don't know what you guys have done with 18 but it's not good especially regarding plugins. Guess I wasted my money updating, I have work to do so am sticking with VP16. Disappointing.

Plugins work in VP 16, 14 and 12. Plugins don't work in VP18. Yes it is registered and paid for, build 4. There is something wrong with VP18.

Could you please open a separate thread? Otherwise things will get mixed up here - the thread starter had problems with the installation - and you with the third-party plug-ins?

I too had problems with the installation of the software update, turns out my problems were know problems. I was reporting that I had now succeeded but with issues. But sure I'll start a new thread.
