Community Question: FX Bypass in Preview

Try updating your driver version (Nvidia?).

Tnx vkmast.

Nvidia Driver was updated but did not change fx behaviour.

It seems that there is a bug or a setup which locks Split Screen in bypass mode while editing so that one cannot see the occurring adjustment. Turning the fx edit window off seems to reset the Split Screen bypass mode and the edit result shows up in full preview screen. Not useable,of course.

@Melachrinoso please read section 2 here. It's now a bit outdated but should give you a clue.

Tnx vkmast.

Turning the GPU acceleration off fixes the Split Screen bypass problem.

But now we have Vegas Pro 18 without acceleration...

@Melachrinoso Could you start a new thread about this and include detail about your system and Vegas settings? I think it might get lost in this thread.

@vkmast & @RogerS y’know @Melachrinoso just might be unto something?

I don't understand the issue as it's being described. More info with screenshots in a new thread would be great.

I disabled preview Fx and put cookier cutter on a clip. You can't see the effect. I then clicked the preview button and you can see it. GPU acceleration remains on and VP 18 is added in the NVIDIA control panel.

Back in Vegas 15(?) I remember not being able to see generated text edits until I closed the Fx window. I thought that was an issue having both Intel and NVIDIA GPUs but the issue was resolved in the interim.

@RogerS I had the same problem (discussed by NickHope in the link I gave above). For me it was solved by updating the Nvidia driver to a later version.

Reading Nick's thread again I think I also used this advice a couple years back. I was doing a lot of subtitling and not being able to see what I was doing was a problem, so I had to disable NVIDIA for a time to make the preview update if I recall right.

The odd part is that the user still has this issue with VP 18 and updated NVIDIA drivers. Maybe update the Intel drivers as well?

Otherwise perhaps try this advice from that thread:

Open the NVIDIA control panel (e.g. by right-clicking on the desktop).

Open Manage 3D Settings and select the Program Settings tab.

Choose VEGAS Pro in the "Select a program to customize" menu or add it if it is not there.

Choose Integrated Graphics in the Preferred Graphics Processor drop-down menu, then Save.

To complete this point, by adjusting or turning off GPU acceleration fixed the problem, as suggested elsewhere.
