+1 @3POINT  ... during a thread about much the same thing a year or so ago, I also used the stolen car example likening the chance of the victim of the stolen car giving advice to the robber who telephones him and asks about how to use the SatNav in the car he's just stolen from the victim.

It’s very dodgy and I actually really don’t like it myself. It gets me quite annoyed when you pay for something and people just advertise pirated copies of the software that you genuinely bought with your hard earned cash. ☹️

@MH7
I'm afraid you missed the point - please read the first post of the thread again.

You’re right, my bad! However, what I said is still something that is annoying and quite wrong.

OK, full-on Rant! I’ve now got mad at firstly the audacity of individuals coming into OUR house and seeking solutions!

I hope I’ve got this correct, going from the title of this thread and what you’re saying: You’re annoyed at people with pirated or cracked version of VEGAS Pro coming to these forums and asking for solutions to their problems and how to do certain things, correct?

Well, I do agree that they shouldn’t obtain any software illegally, that is wrong, but you’re saying and suggesting that they should get absolutely no help if they have obtained VEGAS Pro illegally?

Please let me know if I’m correct about what I believe you’re saying.

Thanks! I read your comment and others. I believe I understand now. But my next post on this particular thread will be proof of whether or I truly do understand. But, from what I can see, MAGIX and this forum doesn’t support users of illegally obtained Magix software. I hope that’s correct.

@MH7 one is violating the Terms and Conditions and the Community rules if he/she procures, installs or uses (etc.) software for which he/she does not have the necessary rights. I hope that's clear by now.

Yes, it most certainly does. I’m sorry, I’m sometimes a bit slow, admittedly, to get it. Thanks for the clarification. 😀👍🏻

My little thoughts about it. First I have to say, that I have the original code of the old Sony Vegas 11 purchaced with a camera. It can be said or whatever, but Vegas as itself is only alive, because of it fans and by far not only because of honest buyers. I have no doubt that if Vegas becomes a better "security" today, it will die tomorrow, no one will remember it (and no one will actually care about your skills in Vegas, which is important for your career). Cracked versions do harm to the company, but on the other hand it make a software popular, if its good. Magix has to learn from DaVinci, and their price politics. To be one of the best and free is a big deal. But today, MAGIX has no idea what to do with Vegas and each Demo I try proves me one more time, that there will be a long way till I decide to buy a new version.

I don't understand the people that condone stealing from someone and then say it makes the product popular. What a ridiculous statement. Really? Where does the revenue then come from for the product to improve? From the thieves who contribute nothing? Vegas is ONLY alive because enough people BOUGHT it. If no one buys any product, it will disappear.

Stealing is always justified until someone starts stealing from "you".

Try explaining in a court of law that you stole something to make it "popular".... see how far that gets you.

@lan-mLMC I hope that if someone is using a pirated (stolen) copy of the software will have their work "pirated" by the contractor, to make it "popular".

I can only shake my head sadly at this kind of discussion.
Who planted such opinions in people's brains?

Did no one tell them your key phrase?
Stealing is always justified until someone starts stealing from "you".

Bold: Very naive thinking.

In a Court of law theft needs to be proven. And as long as you still have your "something", that's proof enough that no one stole that "something" from you.

My 2c.

Reyfox wrote on 4/19/2021, 9:55 AM

@adis-a3097 maybe.... but naive... I don't think so. If you actually "own" something, even if falsely accused, all you have to do is show the proof. But then, try reading what I wrote in the context it was meant.

Proof of what? Innocence?

That's not how it works, it's the the way round.

The time wasted here talking about wasting time answering question of some possible new payd user is same time that can answer theyr question and same time helping other users that are new in the Vegas world.
Maybe the person who pirate the software dont have the money needed to buy the app and with he have the money sure they will.
my opinion with some english errors.
BTW I have almost all versions of Vegas legally!

I think enough has been said and this is starting to go round in circles. The conclusion is that opinions differ.

The forum's policy has been stated earlier in the thread.
