This is a brand new install (6/23/2017) of build 122 running in Windows 10.

It doesn't exist in MS14. Unfortunately we are stuck with the dark screen and difficult to see selected icons. It's known as progress!!!

This option was dropped from v 14. Several threads about this. Agreeing with Eric.

Well that's most unfortunate. I'm a 73 years old world class musician with failing eye sight who wants to archive a life's work in video. Anyone know how I can get a refund or do I have to blast social media with negative reviews and irate comments?

Barry - suggest you approach Magix for a refund, and tell them how unhappy you are.

You are not alone with your unhappiness and as vkmast commented there are several threads here with folk expressing their displeasure.

Personally I like the dark background but it's the black highlighting of selected icons that is difficult to see especially where the icons are small. Plus grey text in places against a darker grey background.

I wonder if the developers actually used MS14 to do any editing. Or maybe they only work in dark rooms with monster monitors and have cats night vision?

As with buying a new car, you have had the opportunity to make a testdrive with Vegas Movie Studio 14 (30 days in fact). You should blame your " bought cat in sack" policy and not Magix.

I'm very glad with the new dark interface but must admit that some further improvements should be made.

"Good reasons drove every UI change in the new version"

"We hope to provide a few different options for the interface color/brightness of Vegas 15. (These options will not be available yet in Movie Studio 14.)"

"a fix for the various timeline contrast issues was not able to make it into the code before this update. It is near the top of our list for the next update.---For vkmast...I understand the pain with not having the adjustable interface."

If, how and when these will be implemented remains to be seen. Personally, I did upgrade to MVMSP 14 though I knew about these issues (for me), but I live in hope that the differing "interface needs will be accommodated."

I use Vegas 12 but bought 13 and 14 but hated the colors and stuck with 12.

Vegas 12 just crashed and they no longer have updates so I'm stuck with 14. Hate the colors!

Did 15 fix the display color problems?

Are you referring to Pro or Movie Studio? If you are asking about Vegas Movie Studio 15 Platinum UI, read here. (Vegas Pro 15 here.) Some discussion of the GUI here with further links incl. screenshots and here. Download the 30-day free trial (new update of VMS 15 P just out) to judge for yourself.

Links to download Sony Vegas Pro 12 and/or Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 here, points 3 and/or 4.

edit: note this.
