How to merge the docking area in VEGAS Pro?

alifftudm95 wrote on 4/20/2021, 10:24 AM

By default, Project media Tab, Explorer Tab, Transitions Tab, Video FX Tab, Media Generator Tab & Project Notes are 1 merge docking area. Let say I wanna merge together with video scopes instead of separated docking area (Like in the pic), how do I do that in VP?

Sometimes I accidently undocked the Video FX Tab and try to docking it again, it just become separate panel. I have to reset the UI back to my saved window layout.

@alifftudm95 I do it the other way... check off the box in the display preferences: "Allow floating windows to dock". Then hold down the control key to disable it as I'm dragging till I'm pointing at the place I want it to dock and it usually docks right there when I release the control key. Not sure how to get it to choose between splitting the window and docking onto a tab, however... nine out of 10 times it splits the window.

To help recover when I accidentally mess up my windows (I somehow manage to do that allot) I save them using View, Window Layouts.

Be careful where you drop it.

It would work if you'd placed it precisely. Try dropping it more to the left edge of the docking area and almost (but not entirely) on the top edge.

Tip: Every window can be docked, like Trackmotion, Pan&crop, FX-settings, Title&Text etc., so no floating windows at all. Also no need to save this setting, Vegas remembers the setting once a window has been docked.

Docking all windows gives in my opinion a much more cleaner and clearer UI.

The only window that not can be docked is the Plugin chooser.
