Hi, does anybody know how to force VEGAS PRO 18 to create new projects with the default set of tracks e.g. 3 video and 2 audio tracks existing initially in the timeline window when new project starts? In an older version of Vegas Movie Studio, every new project started with some default set of tracks. In VEGAS PRO 18 every new project starts with no tracks (empty timeline) and I have to add the same set of tracks every time which is very annoying. 😕

Easy. Start a new project with all the tracks that you want and then save it as your default .veg project (i.e. overwrite the existing default.veg file).
@VikingPL ... .I must apologise - the default veg file is actually called 'untitled.veg' and should save to your Documents folder on the C drive unless it has been directed to another folder at the time of creation. To save a new 'untitled.veg' on closing VP, the 'Automatically open last project on startup' needs to be unchecked in Options/Preferences. Nonetheless, the 'untitled' save still opens as a blank project even if it has been saved with tracks added as I've just found out - weird.
But I've tricked myself - because what I have done for years is to create a 'default' .veg file (e.g. VP17default.veg, VP18default.veg, VP19default.veg) with all the tracks and basic track header FX set. When I need to start a new project, I just open VP via the relevant xxxxdefault.veg file, and then rename the project file to the new project name. This could be an approach that may work for you. Interestingly, this is much the same approach as applies to opening a new project in daVinci Resolve - the program default is basic unless you create other default projects with customised settings.
Save your project with the tracks you want as a (e.g.) blank VP18 project where you want. Create a shortcut for it to the desktop. Open it when you start a new project. (Right-click to open and choose the correct version of the app from the opening menu.) Remember to save that project with a new name so you won't lose the blank one.

Thank you @Dexcon - it sounds like a walkaround, but I'm disappointed that Vegas developers decided to change something that has been well working for years in older versions of their software. 😠 There is nothing more annoying for me than changing users habits of software behaviour by developers. 😠

Which version of VEGAS Pro came with a default set of tracks? I recall only Movie Studio versions having them. Must have been before v. 10 if at all. Vegas Movie Studio was always the baby brother and different in many details.
Yes, I was using only Vegas Movie Studio before - recently Platinum 15, and Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 many years ago. I bought Vegas Pro 18 this year thinking that it will be the same software - just refreshed and with more features... 😉
I recall a multi-track editor that once opened with a bunch of default empty tracks which became a regular source of complaint. The solution was a new scheme that opened with no tracks but allowed choosing from multiple saved templates when selecting NEW in the File menu. Like Vegas project templates plus empty tracks.
