is there a way to make vegas remember the fx panel status?

Mindmatter wrote on 5/6/2022, 6:56 AM

Hi all
this has been a major workflow brake for me for quite some time, especially with plugins that have several submenus. Every time I open the FX panel, I have to click my way through all the closed panels and subpanels to get to where I need to be. Even with every menu expanded, each time I close the panel and reopen it later, I have to do the same. That's hundreds and hundreds of unnecessary mouse clicks.

Is there a setting I'm missing or is it simply not a possible feature to realize?
Thanks!

Try turning off Auto Resizing in preferences to see if it works.

Thanks, I just tried. It actually remembers the size that I dragged the panel open to, but not the content, meaning I have to open each submenu again.

This is plugin-chain, or FilterPackage as VEGAS calls, it should be located at the 1st one in God's eye when you open the chain. Even so, it's not "That's hundreds and hundreds of unnecessary mouse clicks.".

I think VEGAS does its job quite well, e.g. the cursor stays at the last editing postion after you reopen your project etc.

I am on a multicam project where I color correct almost each single event. The project is 2 hours long. I don't know how your clicking magic works but in my algebra, that's " hundreds and hundreds of clicks" when I open the chain and have to go into the respective submenus.

I think VEGAS does its job quite well, e.g. the cursor stays at the last editing postion after you reopen your project etc.

What does that have to do with my issue?

Or you wanna VEGAS becomes an AI-monster and collects your habits into cloud?

errmmm...??

OK, your right. I also find my words somewhat offensive. About multicam editing, my workflow would be

1, take the basic color balance at media level (or camera level)

2, adjust individual color tune at event level

...the less plugins you use, the quicker you go render and the better your endproduct.

that's what I usually do, at track level. But in this shooting, the sun kept appearing and disappearing behind the clouds, and I operated 3 cams alone, which forces me to correct a lot of single events. Still doesn't solve the FX display issue though. I'd hazard a guess that this shouldn't be too hard to code or offer as a feature?

@Mindmatter For me when i choose an fx from the tabs at the top in the FX window, close the FX window, then open that events FX window again it shows whatever FX tab was on when it was closed, If i open a different events FX window it shows whatever FX tab was on when i closed it on that window, & so on with all events, each event shows whatever tab was chosen when i closed that events FX window.

@Mindmatter
It's a pain, - especially if you have a lot of presets saved - but have you tried a reset (with clearing the cache)?

@Mindmatter yeah i can't say why, a lot of my Vegas is still at default settings, i've tweaked a few bits but nothing that could change this 🤷‍♂️ Yours isn't remembering for some reason,
